It is officially WWE WrestleMania 41 weekend and there is still a lot to be revealed as the events begin to unfurl in Las Vegas.

While the card may be largely set, there is still time for some last-minute changes to be unveiled ahead of the big event.

Here are seven potential last-minute changes to WWE WrestleMania 41.

7. Rusev Returns vs. El Grande Americano

WWE star Rusev

After it appeared that Rey Mysterio may have suffered an injury during a match on SmackDown, it is possible that he may not be able to face El Grande Americano as planned on night one of WrestleMania 41.

However, there are substitutions at the ready including some that are easy lines to draw – like Dragon Lee or Rey Fenix – but also a surprise may be an incredible moment in the show.

Depending on the presentation planned for Rusev, it might make sense for him to return against El Grande Americano.

Able to return triumphantly and immediately get into a rivalry with the most patriotic factions in WWE in American Made would be one way for Rusev Day to begin again.

6. Chelsea Green United States Championship Open Challenge

It seems, at least for now, Chelsea Green and her WWE Women’s United States Championship will not have a match at WrestleMania.

Rather, Green repeated her singles match from last week against Zelina Vega on SmackDown, this time with Vega picking up the clean pinfall victory.

Previously it has been reported that there were other creative ideas bantered about for Green on the road to WrestleMania including an open challenge.

With names such as Nikki Bella and Alexa Bliss thrown out as possibilitiesm=, it sounds as though Bella is on board, recently commenting that she would definitely be interested in answering.

5. Randy Orton vs. Nick Aldis

While it seems as though the storyline may have been headed towards Randy Orton taking on Solo Sikoa at WrestleMania 41, a detour could be justified if Orton were to take on Nick Aldis.

Aldis has yet to make his WWE in-ring debut but the former TNA and NWA Champion definitely hasn’t officially retired from competition, rather he has been portraying an authority figure on TV since his arrival in WWE.

After Orton hit Aldis with an RKO recently and they had a somewhat heated exchange on the subsequent SmackDown, it seems that a match between the two could still be coming sometime in the future.

Orton even suggested to Aldis that he gets back in the ring for WrestleMania.

4. Randy Orton vs. Another Surprise

With multiple former WWE stars expected to be returning to the company imminently, there could be a very big WrestleMania 41 moment incoming.

While fans continue to await the arrival of Aleister Black and Rusev, either one would be a formidable opponent to pop up and challenge Randy Orton.

Conversely, if WWE was looking for someone beloved but that also could lose valiantly to the Viper – TNA Wrestling Champion Joe Hendry could be an option

There’s also a pair of TNA Wrestling stars with legitimate history with Randy Orton in Matt and Jeff Hardy. The possibilities really still seem endless if WWE elects to go the surprise route.

3. Carmelo Hayes Reunites With Trick Williams

With Carmelo Hayes winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the SmackDown before WrestleMania, he may make an appearance on the main show to celebrate his win.

However after Trick Williams lost out on his chance to regain the NXT Championship at Stand & Deliver, he may understand his former best friend more than ever before.

After being called out by Je’Von Evans during their NXT Championship feud for repeating the same rhetoric that Melo told Trick last year, perhaps Williams’ call-up to the main roster is very simple.

He could just have a moment with Hayes where they acknowledge their shared history and reunite – Simple enough for any fan but also nuanced for the NXT diehards, this might be a creative path forward to bring back Trick Melo Gang.

2. Rotating Commentary Teams

With Michael Cole and Pat McAfee hosting the WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony on Friday night, it may be wise for there to be a rotation throughout the weekend to save everyone’s voice.

While the commentary teams tend to also have some pre-show hosting duties, or even the post-show as Joe Tessitore and Wade Barrett will often appear, perhaps returning legends like Big E or JBL could return the favor by sitting in on a match during the main show to give someone a break.

In town for NXT Stand & Deliver, it would be nice to see Corey Graves, Booker T and Vic Joseph help lighten the load by making some hosting appearances outside of just NXT.

Given the plan to have nine hours of live WWE WrestleMania 41 content on Saturday in addition to nine more on Sunday… it is set to be a huge weekend for all involved.

1. The Rock Is The Final Boss Of Guest Referees

With the match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes already at high stakes, it seems possible that the drama could be ratcheted up even further with the introduction of a classic WWE trope – the special guest referee.

While it hasn’t been used a lot as of late, a classic way for the heel to stick it to the babyface once and for all was to yield their power and authority for evil instead of fairness, which sounds perfectly in line with the current Final Boss character.

The Rock was much more present in the build to WrestleMania 40 rather than this year where he has remained largely absent this year as John Cena and Cody Rhodes have interacted one-on-one.

However, with WrestleMania 41 fast approaching, it would seem unlikely that The Rock won’t be involved – but how he gets himself involved in the main event still remains to be seen.
