WWE Stars To Join New GUNTHER Faction

GUNTHER and WWE star Ilja Dragunov

Already ruling the roster with an iron fist, WWE star GUNTHER could be poised to create even more calculated chaos by once again leading a faction.

Whether he becomes World Heavyweight Champion again soon or not – perhaps now is the best time for the Ring General to resume recruitment for Imperium 2.0.

Here are eight WWE stars that could join a new GUNTHER led faction.

8. Ilja Dragunov

Ilja Dragunov was last seen in WWE action in a live show match against GUNTHER in he sustained a torn ACL.

However after surgery and rehab, it seems that fans may be close to seeing the Mad Dragon back in the ring again.

Reportedly poised to return to action from injury at some point between now and the Fall, Dragunov would be a great addition to any GUNTHER faction.

Able to tap into his intensity as a babyface or a heel, Dragunov certainly has what it takes to play a dastardly and villainous role, and seeing him team up with long-time foe GUNTHER would be a surprising change.

7. New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate)

WWE's New Catch Republic

Two more stars familiar to GUNTHER from the NXT UK era – Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate are excellent candidates to follow the lead of The Ring General.

While each have found accolades as singles performers, the duo has been largely hindered from showing their capacity as a tag team on the main roster.

Now that both stars are seemingly active in in-ring competition, the pair could do a lot of damage if they joined forces with GUNTHER.

While able to make it work as babyfaces – taking a swerve to the dark side for this duo would make total sense.

6. Myles Borne

Making a switch from European excellence to a North Carolina born star – NXT’s Myles Borne has recently seen sky rocketing success.

With the NXT fans impressed by his physicality as well as compelling personal backstory, he may be the perfect fit to join GUNTHER – and eventually get out from underneath his tyrannical rule.

A trope that works incredibly well in WWE remains that of the oppressive faction leader eventually bullying one of their minions so severely – that they find their voice and fight back!

Myles Borne would be a good fit for the role of the secret babyface who gets out from underneath a heel leader. However, considering Borne’s recent babyface push, the likes of Brooks Jensen, Ridge Holland or Lexis King could also be a fit for the role.

5. Alba Fyre

There is no reason why there couldn’t be a female member of Imperium, with perhaps the perfect candidate currently without a solid storyline over on SmackDown.

While Alba Fyre continues to work with Chelsea Green and Piper Niven in the Secret Hervice, she remains a third-wheel to the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

However if given opportunity to show off an aggressive and vicious side that hasn’t been seen from the star in several years – it may be the perfect pairing to join her with GUNTHER’s squad.

Having not picked up any singles titles since holding the NXT UK Championship for over 600 days, perhaps aligning with GUNTHER would be the necessary boost to get her back into singles competition.

4. Charlie Dempsey

While GUNTHER is chasing Jey Uso for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on WWE Raw, a faction in NXT may be falling apart at just the right time.

Charlie Dempsey lost a bout to his own No Quarter Catch Crew member Myles Borne – and thereby freeing Borne from the group and seemingly leaving Dempsey adrift.

Perhaps it makes more sense to see Dempsey under the tutelage of another ferocious star like GUNTHER on the main roster rather than continuing on his own path as a faction leader on NXT.

Given his family connections as the real life son of William Regal and mutual history in NXT UK (albeit not against one another) – it would be incredible to see Dempsey going GUNTHER.

3. JD McDonagh

While Judgment Day seems to be perpetually teetering on the edge of collapse, perhaps the breakup will come from a surprise source.

JD McDonagh could definitely decide to defect to a GUNTHER led faction instead of sticking around to find out what goes on with Dirty Dom and Finn Balor.

Showcasing a very different persona on NXT, perhaps the main roster iteration of JD McDonagh would take on his former darker and frankly, creepier behavior.

Conversely, given his good will from fans after his recent harrowing injury, McDonagh could be another candidate to serve in the role of undercover fan favorite who creates joy with their inevitable liberation story from the dastardly rule of GUNTHER.

2. Rusev

While GUNTHER already has one partner in Ludwig Kaiser, he could definitely benefit from adding some more “meat” to his squad.

Since returning to WWE and making his big debut on WWE Raw on Netflix, Rusev has mostly shown off his heelish side.

Taking aim at fan favorites Alpha Academy, he also cut a powerful promo about returning from the abyss to seek vengeance.

Describing himself as being prepared to crush people not because he was told to but rather simply because he wanted to – Rusev’s newly re-invigorated penchant for violence would fit in well with GUNTHER.

1. Nattie Neidhart (aka Natalya)

WWE star Natalya

While Natalya in WWE is a “Ring General” in her own right, the tone of her character is certainly not the same as GUNTHER’s.

Her alter ego Nattie Neidhart on the other hand has demonstrated herself to be a gritty and edgy competitor, having taken on challenges outside of WWE of late.

Entering the NWA Crockett Cup as well as competing at GCW Bloodsport, the veteran star has had the ability to debut an entirely new iteration outside of the company.

While Natalya is an affable character, Nattie most certainly is not having earned her “low key legend” status and not afraid to remind others of her abilities.
