WWE Stars To Appear At AEW Double Or Nothing 2025

With AEW Double or Nothing 2025 set for Sunday, there is the potential to see some WWE related surprises at the annual event.

From former WWE stars who were recently released to others who departed in the past, there are a host of talented wrestlers that Tony Khan may elect to snap up from free agency.

Here are six former WWE stars that could make an appearance at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.

6. Cedric Alexander

WWE Hurt Business faction

Last appearing in NXT back in January 2025, Cedric Alexander would go on to be released after nearly 9 years with WWE.

While he was appearing as a singles star before his departure, Alexander was a member of the fan favorite stable the Hurt Business in WWE during their run.

With rest of the now Hurt Syndicate already having signed with AEW and together as a group in the company, it seems like Cedric Alexander joining is a natural next storyline step.

Potentially arriving to foil MJF’s place within the group, it could be a big summer for the Hurt Syndicate in AEW.

5. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson

After departing WWE, the Good Brothers, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, have already been rumored to be AEW bound – and possibly very soon.

With the Anarchy in the Arena match at Double or Nothing set to feature the Death Riders and the Young Bucks taking on a powerful squad led by Kenny Omega – perhaps Gallows and Anderson will be involved.

After their release, Gallows and Anderson have already teamed with the Bucks in NJPW and cross that affiliation over to AEW.

The pair of former Bullet Club members could re-unite with the Young Bucks at Double or Nothing, with Anarchy in the Arena providing the perfect opportunity.

4. Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin)

When it was confirmed that WWE had elected not to re-sign Baron Corbin, fans were a bit perplexed.

After having spent over 12 years with WWE, he struck out on his own and began appearing for indie wrestling promotions and returning to his roots.

He recently won two gold medals at the 2025 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships after continuing to compete in Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitions throughout his WWE tenure.

With several potential storyline opportunities for Dyer to make an appearance at AEW Double or Nothing 2025 – including alongside real life friend MJF – it could be the right time for a debut.

3. Beth Phoenix

Beth Phoenix confirmed in the summer of 2024 that she was a free agent after having previously been under contract with WWE.

With the potential return of Cope on the horizon, perhaps this time he won’t be alone and rather, as his WWE Hall of Fame wife could join him.

After being viciously attacked FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), Cope has been out of action – however, there is a match at Double or Nothing 2025 that would make sense to see his return.

FTR is set to take on Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness at the event, marking a perfect spot for Cope to return and possibly arrive with The Glamazon.

2. Raj Dhesi (Jinder Mahal)

The former Jinder Mahal from WWE has definitely re-invented himself since having been released from the company in April 2024.

Having made appearances in GCW, MLW and beyond, perhaps Dhesi is looking for his next wrestling role on TV.

While there is already a stacked roster in AEW, the addition of a powerhouse like Dhesi could be invigorating as he could hold his own against other big men in the company.

It certainly seems as though MJF’s days with the Hurt Syndicate could be numbered – perhaps he will need to start recruiting some new allies.

1. Isla Dawn

While the latest crop of released talent in WWE are not yet eligible to appear due to varying non-compete clauses, Isla Dawn has already seen her non-compete elapse last month.

After making her mark in NXT UK as well as NXT and the main roster in WWE, perhaps Isla Dawn is up for a new challenge in AEW.

Another former WWE UK star featured in AEW in the past is Aleah James, having competed in a match on Collision against Hikaru Shida as well as in ROH against Athena.

With the AEW women’s division continuing to build out storylines, a new addition to the competition pool could make sense.
