Coming off the heels of the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 event and the closing of the “transfer window,” there are a lot of changes in store for SmackDown.

From new talent on the brand to stories evolving on the road to WrestleMania 41, 2025 will see a lot of adjustments being made on the blue brand.

With Mania on the horizon, there is a lot that can happen that may have an impact on the proceedings in Las Vegas in April.

Here are six potential changes to the WWE SmackDown roster.

6. Solo Sikoa’s Return

On the February 7 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defeated Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu in the main event.

Post match, Solo Sikoa made his return to the blue brand by laying out the Undisputed WWE Champion with a Samoan Spike.

Sikoa making his presence known back on SmackDown could help further the takeover of the brand that Jacob Fatu and Tama Tonga started in his absence.

After losing the ula fala in the Tribal Combat against Roman Reigns on the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere, the entire SmackDown roster should be on high alert for what Solo has in store for them.

5. Tonga Loa Returns To Reunite With Tama Tonga & Go After WWE Tag Team Championship

Speaking of the former New Bloodline, Tonga Loa has been absent from WWE television, recovering from injury following the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series.

A few weeks ago on SmackDown, Tama Tonga stopped backstage to stare at the WWE Tag Team Championship belts before DIY grabbed their gold.

This could indicate that Tama will eventually go back after those titles to reclaim the gold for the former New Bloodline.

While Tama could challenge alongside Jacob Fatu or Solo Sikoa, it only makes sense for the former NJPW star to reunite with his brother Tonga Loa upon his return to become champions again.

4. Trick Williams Gets Called Up To SmackDown

At NXT New Year’s Evil, Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe to win the NXT Championship in the main event.

While Williams has continued to set his sights back on the NXT gold, this loss should lead to the former NXT Champion making his way to the WWE main roster.

Trick joining his former tag team partner and best friend Carmelo Hayes over on SmackDown could result in major storyline ramifications for both men.

From a potential reunion to reigniting their rivalry, Trick and Melo should find themselves back into each other’s lives on the blue brand.

At WWE Royal Rumble 2025, Alexa Bliss made her return to the company for the first time in over two years as the number 21 entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

To follow up her very fondly received comeback, Bliss went on to defeat Candice LeRae to qualify for the women’s Elimination Chamber match at the titular event on March 1.

With her focus firmly on this important bout to determine who goes on to challenge for a world title at WrestleMania 41, some fans might forget Alexa’s connection to the newest group on the SmackDown brand.

Bliss could bring a major boost in star power back to The Wyatt Sicks that could help to truly reignite the group on SmackDown.

2. Charlotte Flair Chooses Tiffany Stratton

At the WWE Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event, Charlotte Flair made her return from a serious leg injury after over a year on the shelf as #27 in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.

Last eliminating Roxanne Perez, Flair made history by becoming the first two-time women’s Rumble winner.

“The Queen’ then made her return to SmackDown on the February 7 edition to tease a potential WrestleMania 41 showdown with current WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton.

Flair and Stratton clashing at the Grandest Stage of Them All could make for the kind of special generational battles that fans remember for years.

Ahead of the February 7 episode of SmackDown, GM Nick Aldis announced that Drew McIntyre would be making the move from Raw to the blue brand.

McIntyre then went on to defeat both LA Knight and Jimmy Uso to qualify for the men’s Elimination Chamber to determine who goes on to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 41.

“The Scottish Psychopath” coming to Friday nights should lead to him further targeting The Bloodline, especially “The Tribal Chief.”

McIntyre having a battle against Roman Reigns makes this move worthwhile and could greatly benefit the SmackDown brand moving forward.
