According to reports, WWE stars Karrion Kross and Scarlett have not been offered new WWE contracts paving the way for a departure this weekend.
In terms of both menacing on-screen presence and worthy of organic fan support, Kross could leave behind a gap to be filled in the hearts of fans by another oft overlooked star.
Here are seven WWE stars that could replace Karrion Kross should he not end up re-signing with the company.
7. Carmelo Hayes

A fan favorite in NXT, Carmelo Hayes has found himself a bit directionless since being called up to the main roster.
That isn’t to say he’s been entirely lost in the shuffle – continuing to have matches on TV and appearing in backstage segments – similarly to Kross, he doesn’t have a lot to show for it.
Certainly worthy of the groundswell of fan support afforded to Kross, Melo remains a WWE star that is seemingly just on the brink of doing something great if given the chance.
Potentially able to link back up with his former tag team partner Trick Williams if he is to be drafted to the main roster as expected – Hayes could easily find new life as a character.

6. Natalya

A longtime WWE star that is certainly deserving of a swell of fan support is Natalya.
Recently rebranding herself outside of WWE, Natalya has an entirely new persona that fans could easily demand to be showcased more on TV.
With a glimpse of her more vicious side already shown on WWE Evolve against Kali Armstrong and in the past in an NXT Underground match against Lola Vice – she ramps it up even more outside of WWE.
Certainly there is a way to bridge the Low-Key Legend Nattie persona with Natalya’s standard WWE character – even if it means taking a foray to NXT or partner promotion, TNA Wrestling.

5. Ethan Page

In terms of looking for a replacement for the on-screen character that way played by Karrion Kross – a backstage pot stirrer who was perpetually popping up at the right place at the right time – Ethan Page could fit the bill.
Having already captured the NXT Championship and NXT North American Championship in his short time in WWE, Page seems ready to move on to the main roster.
During times without a clearly defined in-ring rivalry however, Page could certainly use his acting chops in backstage segments similarly to Kross.
Given his ‘All Ego’ moniker, Ethan Page certainly has no lack of confidence – making him a character that would be fun to see interact with established main roster stars.

4. LA Knight

While LA Knight is a fan favorite that undoubtedly brings crowds to their feet during his appearances – he hasn’t quite had “the rocket strapped to him” as others may have.
With consistent fan support over the past year and a half, Knight has been in big matches but has yet to claim any World title.
His most recent United States Championship run lasting only 43 days, perhaps Knight is poised to tangle with the top of the card soon.
Recently having a feud with the now WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins – Knight could use all the fan support he can get.

3. Austin Theory

In another case of his potential seemingly outweighing his opportunities, Austin Theory could be a star that could deserve the fan support that was afforded Karrion Kross.
While he has technically been written off of TV at the minute – with Grayson Waller noting that he was injured and their tag team was done in a backstage segment – there has yet to be any official report on his status.
Perhaps if Theory is not injured, he is quietly preparing for something big in the coming months.
Since John Cena is ramping up for his departure, it would be nice to see the pair interact on-screen after their previous back-and-forth was memorable – perhaps not in the best way for Theory.

2. Asuka

The recent transformation of Naomi’s character in WWE has demonstrated that change can be a good thing.
Since returning from an extended time out of action, Asuka has not found herself in any particular position to receive the coveted company push.
However, the industry veteran and unequivocal fan favorite could benefit from not only the groundswell of fan support that Kross received but also – perhaps taking on a backstage troublemaker role.
Already teasing the pivot in a seemingly sarcastic backstage interaction with IYO SKY – a darker and more menacingly mean version of Asuka could be a great change.

1. Grayson Waller

Since he confirmed on screen that A-Town Down Under was done for good – Grayson Waller has continued to appear backstage with the New Day.
Known for making hilarious moments every time he is in front of the camera, Waller has also languished a bit in terms of in-ring action.
Previously demonstrating that he has the physicality to back up his brash attitude in NXT – it would be good to see Waller get the chance to show off his in-ring skills in singles action on the main roster.
Having abandoned some of the more sadistic edge to his NXT version, Waller could use an opportunity to demonstrate a vicious and manipulative side in the vein of Karrion Kross.
