After Corey Graves suffered a vicious attack at the hands of Brock Lesnar on the latest WWE SmackDown, he may need a replacement.

From in-ring competitors who could give it a go on commentary to other demonstrated successes at the desk, there are several options for who could fill in for the potentially out of action Corey Graves.

Here are six possible WWE replacements for Corey Graves.

6. The Miz

After Corey Graves suffered the attack at the hands of Brock Lesnar on the September 19 edition of SmackDown, he had a speedy replacement.

The Miz joined Michael Cole on commentary for the remainder of the show and was well received.

Perhaps marking a pivot for the longtime WWE star, his recent track record has contained more hosting gigs than in-ring competition.

Recently returning to WWE action from a stint hosting the first two seasons of the yet to air American Gladiators reboot, The Miz could end up a great addition to WWE commentary.

5. Paige

Former WWE star Paige, now AEW star Saraya

After making her return to in-ring action in AEW under her real first name Saraya, the former AEW Women’s World Champion departed the promotion in 2025.

While she is now a free agent, she has never ruled out a return to her former Paige character, even noting that she is open to a WWE return.

Making a return on commentary to sub-in for Corey Graves could give fans the opportunity to see Paige again as well as demand her in-ring return.

Able to make a legendary entry into the Royal Rumble from the desk, the return of Paige in WWE could be a multi-layered affair.

4. Vic Joseph

After a recent shakeup in the commentary teams, a recent episode of SmackDown saw the NXT team of Booker T and Vic Joseph man the desk.

Perhaps a sign of things to come, Vic Joseph could be a great addition to Michael Cole or even make it a three-man booth for SmackDown.

Reuniting the amusing pairing of Michael Cole and Booker T, Vic Joseph could become a bigger presence in his own right as he looked to bridge between the two.

Adding Joseph to either Raw or SmackDown commentary around the WWE Draft could provide a strategic and purposeful addition of character details and stats from NXT that would otherwise be lost.

3. Big E

Big E remains an absolute fan favorite that could have an incredible second career on commentary.

The former New Day star saw his in-ring career tragically cut short due to injury but has continued to make appearances with WWE.

Impressing fans with his passion during pre-and-post show PLE panels, Big E provides a unique perspective on the current roster as someone who can identify as their peer.

Clearly already adept at interweaving his legitimate reaction to events as a fan with the storylines occurring on-screen, Big E brings the perfect blend of entertainment and engagement.

2. Tom Hannifan

One person who could fill in for Corey Graves on commentary is already familiar to WWE audiences.

Formerly known as Tom Phillips during his time in WWE, Tom Hannifan is currently on TNA Wrestling commentary along with another familiar face.

On commentary alongside Matt Rehwoldt (Aiden English), the duo were recently confirmed to be re-signed with TNA Wrestlingm but since the crossovers between on-screen talent have continued – why not commentators as well?

Potentially able to fill in for Graves one at a time, the guest appearances would be great promotion for TNA Wrestling which is currently largely acknowledged by only NXT.

1. Nigel McGuinness

While it might not be possible in the immediate future, a voice from the past could make a big WWE return on commentary – Nigel McGuinness.

With a career spanning across major promotions like WWE, AEW, TNA Wrestling and ROH, McGuinness’ history in pro wrestling is already storied.

Tony Khan revealed that Nigel McGuinness signed with All Elite Wrestling on April 5, 2023 – depending on the length of his contract, it might be a far off dream to see Nigel back in WWE.

A compelling character as color commentator as well as the ability to make surprise in-ring appearances, McGuinness would be a very intriguing grab for WWE.
