With WWE announcing the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament, NXT stars are set to be included in the field of prospective final opponents.
There are quite a few WWE NXT stars that could not only enter the tournament and make a major impact, there are some that could easily go all the way and win the whole thing.
Here are nine WWE NXT stars that should enter the John Cena ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.
9. Oba Femi

Former NXT Champion Oba Femi certainly seems poised to make a main roster debut in the near future.
With the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament potentially being a great host for his call-up to either Raw or SmackDown, Oba Femi could arrive in a similar manner to the debut of John Cena.
If Femi were to demonstrate he was unafraid to step up to a massive contender in the first round — like Rusev or GUNTHER and end up the winner, the tournament could have a must-watch tone from the beginning.
Able to go the distance, being the final opponent for John Cena in WWE could be the perfect introduction to WWE fans worldwide for the powerful and captivating Oba Femi.

8. Ricky Saints

One NXT star that should definitely be included in the tournament to determine John Cena’s last opponent is NXT Champion, Ricky Saints.
Able to serve as a perfect showcase for things to come in the future, Saints would be a great representative in the tournament from NXT.
With name recognition from his time in AEW potentially helpful, Saints’ personal story and charismatic character has certainly made an impact on NXT fans.
With a unique opportunity for the main roster audience to get their first glimpse of Ricky Saints, the appearance could end up being a huge moment in his career.

7. Trick Williams

Trick Williams could use the ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament opportunity to launch him on the main roster.
After already exerting dominance over not only the NXT roster but also the TNA Wrestling roster by holding both brand’s World titles in 2025 — Williams has demonstrated his preparedness.
Whether or not Trick advanced in the tournament would almost be inconsequential with a strong showing on the main roster could be enough to cement his call-up.
Certainly someone poised for big things in the future, Trick Williams could be a perfect addition to the tournament that could go on to win it all.

6. Brooks Jensen

One NXT star that has already taken the chance to shoot his shot and posted to social media about wanting to be included in the tournament is Brooks Jensen.
Recently showcasing himself as a wrestling historian, Jensen seemingly has good reason look to avenge John Cena’s actions from decades ago.
Jensen will surely have his own in-depth explanation, but the very abbreviated version is that Brooks Jensen’s father Bull Buchanan was on-screen security for John Cena before the duo broke up in dramatic fashion with Buchanan being released shortly thereafter.
Jensen’s beef is referenced elsewhere in WWE cannon, with Buchanan having returned for an episode of Raw in November 2011 where he reported to Cena that the events “ruined his life” during Mick Foley’s This Is Your Life segment directed at Cena’s past misdeeds. With a story that writes itself, it would be fun to see Jensen included in the tournament.

5. Myles Borne

There are a few NXT stars that could enter the tournament and surprise fans with how far they get but the top contender could be Myles Borne.
A Cinderella story that could see Borne enter as an unlikely entrant and go all the way to the finals, Borne’s own personal story makes him even more endearing to fans. With a new group of fans hearing his story of partial deafness since infancy, his in-ring skills can impress a whole new main roster audience.
Certainly capturing the same energy as Cena’s debut against Kurt Angle, Myles Borne could use the opportunity to enter the tournament and face a huge WWE star — even if he didn’t win and get the match against Cena.
Seeing Myles Borne take on the likes of Drew McIntyre, Rusev or even Brock Lesnar could be an absolute star making moment for the NXT talent.

4. Lexis King

One legacy talent in NXT that could approach the tournament from a unique perspective is Lexis King.
While he also boasts a famous father from professional wrestling in Brian Pillman, there was no overlap between Pillman Sr. and Cena.
Able to use this tournament appearance to launch the main roster iteration of Lexis King — potentially riding the line between babyface and heel with some overtly obnoxious tactics —King could serve as a fun foe for Cena.
With reports that Cena’s Survivor Series match will be against Dominik Mysterio — contending with another next generation mischief maker could be a solid send-off for Cena.

3. Charlie Dempsey

A son of industry legend William Regal, Charlie Dempsey could be a choice of an NXT entrant that goes all the way and becomes John Cena’s final opponent.
Able to enter the tournament as a relative unknown but capture hearts and minds by winning the whole thing, Dempsey could also come with the boost of an appearance from William Regal.
With Regal having his own complex history with John Cena, it could make for an interesting nostalgic moment rolled into a nod to the future of the industry.
Another potential opponent that could easily lose to Cena and still get a maximum benefit to their career for having participated in the match, Charlie Dempsey could be the right choice to go all the way.

2. Ethan Page

Since joining NXT, Ethan Page has taken his veteran in-ring skills and character work to a whole new level as he is one of the most compelling heel characters in all of WWE.
Hopefully main roster bound in the near future, Page is currently a double-champion as he holds the NXT North American Championship as well as the AAA Mixed Tag Team titles along with SmackDown star Chelsea Green.
Able to take the opportunity in the tournament to launch the duo on the main roster, Page could be an amazing first or second round foe who falls after a babyface outs his cheating antics with Green and her Slaygent, Alba Fyre.
Definitely one of the entrants who wouldn’t need to win or even pass the first round to make a huge impression, Ethan Page is a solid contender to enter the tournament.

1. Uriah Connors

Since it was made clear in the promotional video for the tournament that the field would be chosen at random, there could be a compelling outside pick that makes the cut.
While he hasn’t been heavily featured yet in NXT, Uriah Connors comes with lengthy indie experience under his perhaps more recognizable in-ring name, Brogan Finlay.
Real life son of WWE legend Fit Finlay, it could be an amazing opportunity for Cena’s final opponent tournament to showcase even more next generation talent.
With John Cena being trained in part by Fit Finlay in his own young career in WWE, the nod could be a special one to see Connors in the tournament.
