WWE NXT Replacement For Ava

Share

WWE NXT General Manager Ava

Since WWE announced Ava as NXT general manager in January 2024, she has done a solid job controlling the Performance Center chaos – but given her young age of 24, she may eventually be moved on to different opportunities.

Despite doing a great job in the role, the fourth generation talent still potentially has an in-ring future ahead of her – notably training weekly with Charlotte Flair which the latter has posted about periodically on social media.

In the event Ava looks to move on to more in-ring competition, here are seven potential on-screen replacements for Ava as NXT GM.

7. William Regal

WWE's William Regal

While William Regal has returned to WWE after his spell in AEW as an on-screen character – he has remained largely behind the scenes.

With Regal being one of the most emotionally evocative and compelling storytellers in the industry – it might make sense for him to be back in front of the camera in WWE at some point.

Perhaps well suited for a return to an on-screen authority role in NXT, there would likely need to be a good reason to recruit Regal to lead the charge.

As a long time fan favorite, William Regal could clue in a whole new generation of fans into his greatness.

6. Robert Stone

After already serving as an assistant to Ava as NXT GM, Robert Stone could also be a great shout for the role.

While Stone is currently on color commentary for WWE Evolve – it hasn’t stopped his ambitions of further authority.

Appearing in TNA Wrestling, Robert Stone fought against Santino Marella at TNA’s Against All Odds in June 2025 for his position of Director of Authority but ultimately lost.

A charismatic on-screen presence, Stone could put his own unique spin on the NXT GM role.

5. Arianna Grace

With impeccable on-screen presence and skills on the microphone, Arianna Grace would make a great NXT GM.

Committed to making NXT a more dignified and classy place, Grace could attempt to institute a variety of changes that endear her to the heels – and draw the ire of the roster’s babyfaces.

Able to take on the role from Ava and put her own unique spin on it, Grace would also be primed for hilarious interactions with her real life father and TNA Wrestling Director of Authority, Santino Marella.

Since the crossovers between NXT and TNA continue on a regular basis, having a father and daughter duo in the respective authority roles could be iconic.

4. Charlie Dempsey

Another next generation star that may try his hand as an authority figure could be Charlie Dempsey.

While a more obvious choice might be William Regal – Dempsey’s father – there could be a compelling intergenerational story told instead.

Currently on a losing streak since Tavion Heights was able to beat him back in July, Dempsey could be looking for a pivot.

At Regal’s insistence, Dempsey could give being NXT GM a shot before discovering that it wasn’t for him – after a variety of amusing hijinks of course.

3. Billy Gunn

AEW star and WWE legend Billy Gunn

With Shawn Michaels the man in charge of NXT behind the scenes – a blast from the past pairing with fellow DX alum Billy Gunn could be legendary.

While Billy Gunn remains under contract with AEW – his time away from WWE has only furthered that he is a charismatic on-screen force.

Having contributed in no small part to the on-screen success of The Acclaimed – Gunn’s ability to be endearing and outrageous could be an iconic fit in a backstage role in NXT.

Bringing about limitless amusing moments, Gunn could be featured in the role in an interim capacity to create a little chaos before moving along to his own in-ring antics.

2. Paige

Former WWE star Saraya in AEW

While fans continue to hope an in-ring return for former WWE Divas Champion Paige could be coming, she perhaps could be persuaded to return in as an authority figure instead.

Formerly a SmackDown GM on-screen, Paige could absolutely make a return to NXT in the same role.

As the first ever NXT Women’s Champion, Paige definitely has history in the brand.

Able to control the chaos as a veteran of the industry, she could be the mother figure that NXT needs.

1. Omos

WWE star Omos in AAA

While he recently returned to in-ring action in AAA, WWE fans are still patiently awaiting the return of Omos.

However as the main roster awaits the potential return of the ‘Nigerian Giant’, maybe he could pop around NXT for an amusing run as a strong and largely silent general manager.

Being a hilarious substitute for Ava, Omos could be present in scenes with talent making pitches, having arguments or even attempting to curry favor – only to crash out on their own with the likes of Lexis King or Ethan Page ranting and raving all the while Omos stays silent.

If not Omos, any extremely large and menacing presence will do – as long as they only nod or shake their head and let the fast talkers of NXT spin out in spectacular fashion.
