With WWE NXT continuing a hot streak of programming, there are certainly set to be changes as the reportedly still planned 2025 WWE Draft approaches.
With some stars likely to depart for the main roster to others that will have a new opportunity to step up, it is an exciting time of change for NXT.
Here are eight potential changes coming to WWE NXT on the CW Network.
8. On-Screen Return Of William Regal

While William Regal has made periodic appearances on NXT since returning to WWE, he hasn’t become a consistent presence.
With the ability to tell some intriguing father/son storylines with Charlie Dempsey, as well as having conflict with current General Manager Ava over their perspectives on the industry, Regal could be used as a powerful catalyst for some more emotional stories in NXT.
If nothing else, it would be great to see Regal on-screen more with his son Dempsey, who seems to be potentially poised to break away from the current No Quarter Catch Crew configuration.
Few WWE personalities have as much respect from the fandom as William Regal – a power that could come in handy in NXT at some point as an on-screen authority figure.

7. New Top Champions Ahead Of WWE Draft

With the possibility of Jordynne Grace capturing the NXT Women’s Championship from Stephanie Vaquer, and Myles Borne being able to defeat Oba Femi to win the NXT Championship, there could be an entirely new top of the card soon.
NXT Battleground is set for the last PLE before the rumored date of the WWE Draft, meaning there could definitely be some big title changes in the coming weeks to prepare for call-ups.
While it seems Stephanie Vaquer is a likely name to head to the main roster – others like North American Champions Ricky Saints and Sol Ruca could potentially be poised to move on as well.
It will certainly be a season of shake-ups as the WWE Draft sees some NXT stars move on and gives those left behind an opportunity to rise up.

6. New NXT Reality Series

Since Total Divas stopped airing, there has been a void in WWE programming for a personal look at life on the WWE roster.
The A&E reality competition series WWE LFG (Legends & Future Greats) covers a version of the journey behind the scenes to become a member of the NXT roster, but for those already performing in NXT, the challenges are totally different.
Able to take a more personal perspective on the day-to-day lives of being an NXT star, the show could include self-filmed content from the cast and their social media accounts in addition to professionally filmed scenes.
Following the journey of NXT stars to the main roster is already a fun part of being an NXT viewer, so it would be even more compelling to see more of what motivates them in the journey.

5. Ricky Saints Takeover

If Ricky Saints isn’t snatched up by one of the main roster brands in the WWE Draft, it must be the year of Saints in NXT.
With the in-ring skills, mic abilities and charisma already built in, Ricky Saints is ready for a major push in NXT.
While he is currently the NXT North American Champion, it would make complete sense to see him challenging for the NXT Championship in the latter half of 2025.
In need of a long-term feud with some emotional investment from fans, Ricky Saints could be poised to completely take over NXT.

4. More Crossovers With TNA, AAA & Marigold

With NXT already sharing a working partnership with TNA Wrestling – affording crossover appearances from the likes of Joe Hendry and the Hardy Boyz – there could be even more to come.
Now that WWE has acquired AAA, presumably there will be more crossover between the promotions even after the upcoming Worlds Collide PLE on June 7.
Also, Japanese promotion Marigold has already proven to be a partner in that Giulia made appearances in NXT ahead of her official end with the promotion.
Since another top star, Mayu Iwatani, has not only departed Stardom for Marigold but also has mentioned wanting to work with WWE stars such as Kairi Sane, IYO SKY and the aforementioned Giulia, perhaps Marigold could be another promotion we see with talents going in both directions.

3. Move To Three Hours

While WWE Raw and SmackDown have experimented with shows ranging from two to three hours in the past year, NXT has always remained at two.
However, with the added fan interest, expanding roster of stars and crossovers with other promotions, there is a case to be made for why a third hour of NXT would be appropriate.
In light of the possibility that there could be an NXT Europe on the horizon and WWE acquiring AAA – if there was a third hour of NXT, a foundation could be laid for entirely new feuds and storylines with an international twist.
While the time wouldn’t be able to be added to go later related to The CW broadcasting local news, perhaps an earlier start time on TV would be worth a shot since worldwide the show streams on Netflix.

2. NXT WarGames

Since the WarGames concept became attached to the annual WWE Survivor Series main roster event, there haven’t been any more WarGames matches in NXT.
Last hosted on the brand in 2021, there was an NXT 2.0 vs. Black & Gold battle with Bron Breakker, Carmelo Hayes, Grayson Waller and Tony D’Angelo representing 2.0 against Tommaso Ciampa, Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne & LA Knight on the Black & Gold side.
There was also a women’s match in 2021 featuring Raquel Rodriguez, IYO SKY, Alba Fyre and Cora Jade defeating Dakota Kai, Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne.
With multiple factions in NXT, it would make sense for there to be a return of the concept to the developmental brand if there were some major score to settle.

1. New Information About DarkState Revealed

While the new DarkState team of Osiris Griffin, Dion Lennox, Cutler James & Saquon Shugars is still wreaking havoc on NXT, fans have some questions.
With the mysterious faction having revealed that their general motivation was chaos, there could still be more that isn’t known yet about their mission and vision.
There is also a hanging detail of speculation that there could be a leader to the group that has remained either off-screen or secret so far.
Able to be flexible and add this detail later, we’ll have to wait and see if there are still hidden motives and alliances behind DarkState’s takeover of NXT.
