The era of WWE NXT showcasing only inexperienced wrestlers appears to be over.
There has been a noticeable reversion to the “super indie” status of NXT, reminiscent of the brand’s black and gold era.
Here are five potential changes building upon the noticeably improved product.
5. Bayley Returns Full-Time

Returning to NXT television in January, Bayley received a welcome befitting her storied history with WWE’s third brand.
However, after failing to win the NXT Women’s Championship in a four-way match at the Vengeance Day PLE in February, she returned directly to the main roster.
This short-lived run left many potential dream matches on the table – bouts against current champion Stephenie Vaquer, Jordynne Grace and a one-on-one against Giulia.
NXT currently boasts an incredibly strong women’s roster, but it is one that could be further elevated by one of the legendary Horsewomen who brought the promotion to prominence.

4. The WWE Arrival Of Mariah May

Another positive change to the NXT women’s roster could be the potential signing and debut of Mariah May, whose AEW contract is reportedly up in the summer.
The 26-year-old British star has not been seen since lying incapacitated, bathed in her own blood, at AEW’s recent Revolution PPV.
May is a proven top-tier performer, and her gruesome feud ending blow-off with Toni Storm was a classic – visually the most unforgettable bout of the year.
While there is little chance of repeating that level of blood-letting in WWE, May’s creativity and storytelling ability would significantly strengthen the already stellar women’s division.

3. William Regal Aligns With The No Quarter Catch Crew

William Regal was last seen on NXT television on December 24, costing his son Charlie Dempsey the Heritage Cup, after striking Lexis King with his patented brass knuckles.
A full-time return to television could however allow the legendary British grappler to build bridges becoming a mentor and manager to his son and the No Quarter Catch Crew.
Floundering in the mid-card, the injection of Regal and a harder edge – in the vein of the Blackpool Combat Club – could rejuvenate the faction.
Dempsey in particular is a supremely talented worker, who just needs some of his father’s charisma to rub off on him.

2. Jordynne Grace Captures The NXT Championship

It surprised no one when Jordynne Grace finally signed with WWE in January this year, after making regular appearances in the promotion since the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Grace ended her run in TNA with a loss to Tessa Blanchard at TNA’s Genesis – one of the best women’s matches in North America so far this year.
The question now is: how long will it take before she claims gold in NXT?
A potential WrestleMania weekend show-stealer, a victory at Stand and Deliver in the four-way against champion Stephanie Vaquer, Guilia and Jaida Parker could usher in the age of “The Juggernaut”.

1. WWE ID Invasion

Last November, WWE launched its ID program.
This scheme offers contracts to promising independent wrestlers, providing them with a “pathway to potentially join WWE” while allowing them to continue working on the indies.
More than just potential stars, WWE signed several already polished workers to ID contracts, including indie standouts Marcus Mathers, Kylie Rae, Jack Cartwheel and Zayda Steel.
A major shake-up in the post-WrestleMania season could see a Nexus-esque invasion of NXT by these ID wrestlers.
