From the King of the Ring to ‘The Last Time Is Now’ tournament, these formats have delivered some exciting matchups and standout performances.

The company could offer some more new tournaments in the coming months that will put a spotlight on different stars on the WWE roster.

Here are six new potential WWE tournaments.

6. Dusty Rhodes Women’s Tag Team Classic

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic became one of the staples of the NXT brand over the past few years.

In the last two years, NXT has not featured the signature tag team tournament, which could help the main roster right now.

Over the past year, WWE has put a greater focus on the Women’s Tag Team Championship picture with new duos and major matches.

To further elevate the division, WWE could offer a Dusty Rhodes Women’s Tag Team Classic that would put them in the forefront in an even bigger way.

5. Main Roster Speed Tournament

The WWE Speed Championship has been mostly used as a tournament based title that was once highlighting lesser utilized main roster talent.

However, the NXT brand has adopted the title in recent months with both the Men’s and Women’s Speed Championships on Tuesday nights.

While it has helped WWE NXT, the main roster could adopt their own Speed tournament, trying to see who have memorable shorter matches like the likes of El Grande Americano and Ivar have done in the past.

Having it exclusively on Raw could dub this specific Speed tournament as a Netflix sponsored event to see who is the fastest on the main roster today.

4. Extreme Championship Tournament

In interviews during his time with the company, Karrion Kross suggested that WWE could have an Extreme Championship tournament.

Wanting to see a tournament filled with ‘Extreme’ matches would be interesting and allow more freedom for creativity from the stars involved.

Trying to crown an Extreme Champion could highlight some different names on the WWE roster, whether it be from Raw, SmackDown or NXT.

From those who have experience in No DQ style matches to those who will get their experience in this tournament, it could create some intriguing matches and help some lesser used talent more attention.

Ever since Triple H took over as WWE head of creative, there have been several different stables who have been at the forefront of the company.

Whether it be The Bloodline or The Judgment Day, these groups have garnered a lot of TV time and won championship gold.

Speaking of championships, WWE has the chance to introduce Trios Titles for these factions to compete over.

From The MFTs and The Wyatt Sicks on SmackDown to American Made and a potential reunited Bloodline on Raw, a Trios Championship Tournament could be exciting and generate plenty of eyes on the fun multi-man action in WWE.

2. World Cup Round-Robin Tournament

WWE has some of the best wrestling stars in the world today with numerous different countries being represented on its roster.

While the US stars are unquestionable, there are the likes of GUNTHER, Finn Balor, IYO SKY, Asuka, Giulia, Penta and Drew McIntyre that are representing countries outside of America.

The company has the chance to put a bigger spotlight on its wide variety of representatives from outside of the United States with a World Cup round-robin tournament.

In a similar vein to the NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament, this World Cup tournament could deliver some tantalizing bouts pitting opponents not usually featured in the center of this massive concept.

1. Worlds Collide Interpromotional Tournament

Speaking of the world, WWE has embraced outside companies more than ever in recent years.

Considering the company’s relationship with the likes of TNA Wrestling and GCW, they have the chance to hold a tournament that puts some stars from outside of WWE in a tournament.

With WWE acquiring Lucha Libre AAA, there are talents like El Hijo del Vikingo, Mr Iguana and La Parka that could take part in a Worlds Collide interpromotional tournament as well.

From AAA and TNA to AJPW and Pro Wrestling NOAH, this kind of tournament would be quite similar and possibly as successful as the Cruiserweight Classic from 2016, which is widely regarded as one of the best things from that period of WWE.
