After the return of R-Truth to WWE led to elation among fans watching Money in the Bank 2025, there are others who could lead to similar joy.
From legendary returns that are already set to others that could just be dreams, there are a host of compelling WWE legends who could return to company on-screen.
Here are eight WWE legends that could return to the company.
8. R-Truth

After R-Truth announced that his time in WWE was set to end after the company elected to not re-sign him to a new contract, fans expressed their disappointment.
With a ‘We Want Truth’ campaign quickly spreading online, it also broke out in chants and signs in crowds at all WWE shows throughout the week.
However, at the height of the controversy, there was a surprise twist as R-Truth appeared in the main event match at WWE Money in the Bank 2025 to get revenge over John Cena.
Now that he is seemingly back in the company, it will be intriguing to see in what capacity and what this next iteration of R-Truth – now billed as Ron Killings – could end up being.

7. Brie & Nikki Bella

Brie and Nikki Bella remain recognizable mainstream names, having branched out into reality TV, podcasts, fashion and wine since last appearing regularly in WWE.
While the status of Brie Bella with WWE remains unknown, fans of the Bella Twins won’t have to wait too long to see at least half of the pair.
Nikki Bella is confirmed to be making an appearance on the June 9 episode of WWE Raw on Netflix live from Phoenix, Arizona.
With Evolution 2 on the horizon, there may well be some indications regarding what to expect from one or both Bella Twins at the event.

6. AJ Lee

Another WWE legend that fans continue to hope for a return to the company from is AJ Lee.
While another AJ Lee superfan is seemingly in agreement – her husband CM Punk – he also continues to play it cool on whether or not the return could happen.
With WWE putting on Evolution 2 on July 13, perhaps AJ Lee could be tempted to return for at least an appearance at the second-ever all female WWE PLE.
Since fans really haven’t stopped begging for her return since the first edition of Evolution back in 2018, perhaps now will finally be the time.

5. JBL

While he retired from in-ring competition back in 2009, JBL has already made some notable on-screen returns.
From jumping into the Royal Rumble in 2014 from his role on commentary to attempting to mentor Baron Corbin in 2022, JBL continues to exist as a WWE character.
Given JBL’s recent appearances in AAA, it might make sense that we see more from JBL in future.
In the meantime, he continues to make surprise appearances in many other promotions including another WWE partner in TNA.

4. LayCool (Layla & Michelle McCool)

With the recent reports about Evolution 2 coming up on July 13, Michelle McCool has already teased on social media about planning to phone Layla about a reunion.
She also made a point of saying during her Hall of Fame induction that she might just team up with Layla one last time.
Whether or not the duo will actually appear together again isn’t known, but the next time Michelle McCool will be featured regularly has already started filming.
Season 2 of the A&E series WWE: LFG (Legends & Future Greats) has already begun filming with McCool serving as the fourth coach for season two alongside returning coaches Booker T, Bubba Ray Dudley and McCool’s husband The Undertaker.

3. Mick Foley

One very popular star that has recently affirmed he will not be having any in-ring return matches in his future is Mick Foley.
While WWE continues to sell Mick Foley merchandise, he hasn’t been seen on-screen on TV in quite some timE, despite the returns of other Attitude Era icons like The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.
Perhaps WWE fans could one day see Foley make an on-screen return in an authority figure role.
With past experience as a GM in WWE, Foley could be the perfect fill-in next time there’s a temporary absence by one of the General Managers.

2. William Regal

William Regal has already returned to WWE, being a behind the scenes force since going back to the company in 2023 – however, his on-screen appearances have been limited.
It would be delightful to see the Englishman back on our screens, particularly if used in some very specific and/or special way.
Fans still enjoy seeing Regal – as evidenced by his iconic run in AEW – so it would make sense to see him re-appear on WWE TV at some point in the future.
Whether as a general authority figure or even engaged in a storyline with his son, NXT star Charlie Dempsey, there are still numerous options for Regal as a TV character.

1. Matt & Jeff Hardy

A pair of WWE legends that could be closer to making a return to the company than ever is Matt and Jeff Hardy.
There have been some rumors that they could be making a WWE main roster return while still signed to TNA Wrestling for something this summer – but so far, only NXT fans have seen a Hardy Boyz return.
While the duo remain signed to TNA Wrestling, their contract is reportedly set to end in November 2025 – so either way, it seems that fans could see Matt & Jeff Hardy back in WWE sooner rather than later.
Having noted in the past that the pair had never had a full feud with The New Day, perhaps there will be a true battle between tag team greats coming soon in WWE.
