7 WWE Title Changes Coming Soon

With a stacked schedule of PLEs over the summer, it is entirely likely that numerous WWE championships are poised to change hands.

From familiar faces returning to capture gold to long simmering storylines finally boiling over, WWE seems set for a big shift in the championship picture this season.

Here are seven potential WWE title changes coming soon.

7. Women’s World Championship

While IYO SKY has held the WWE Women’s World Title since early March, there are still some formidable foes lurking.

Rhea Ripley specifically still seems to be in the picture and looking for a one-on-one title rematch against SKY, who won the title from Ripley.

Also, after Kairi Sane made her return to action, another member of the former Damage CTRL remains absent, as Asuka could be poised to return, and may want to her sights on IYO SKY.

SKY may drop the title to Ripley, Asuka or even someone else soon, although she’d hopefully be back to pursuing gold again in the near future.

6. WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez continue to reign over the WWE women’s tag team division – which saw several teams eliminated due to releases in April – but it seems likely that they will be toppled soon.

There appear to be fractures forming betwene the champions, as Morgan blamed Rodriguez for her loss to Kairi Sane on Raw this past week, due to Rodriguez getting into a ringside argument with Roxanne Perez.

If the duo is able to make it through any potential challengers at Money in the Bank, surely they could have their work cut out for them at Evolution 2. With numerous potential nostalgia acts possible, like Trish Stratus & Lita, The Bella Twins or The IIconics – perhaps their reign will end there.

Also, since the titles are defended across brands, there are NXT teams who could lift the belts off of Morgan and Rodriguez like Sol Ruca and Zaria, or Jazmyn Nyx and Fallon Henley.

5. WWE Tag Team Championship

While the Street Profits have certainly earned their current status as WWE Tag Team Champions, there seems to be simply too many teams after them.

With Nathan Frazer & Axiom, DIY, Pretty Deadly, the Motor City Machine Guns and possibly even members of the Wyatt Sicks all in contention, their current reign may not live for much longer.

Since the Wyatt Sicks has Erick Rowan, Uncle Howdy, Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis, it stands to reason that at least some duo from the faction may be next to hold the belts.

Given the thunderous crowd reaction for the Wyatt Sicks upon their recent return, it may make sense for the group to win the tag team titles but with a rotating set of competitors (the Freebird Rule) – adding a little bit of mystery to any title defense.

4. Women’s United States Championship

Zelina Vega was able to defeat Chelsea Green to capture her first single’s championship in WWE, the Women’s United States Championship, last month.

However with Giulia recently getting the better of Vega and Charlotte Flair to earn a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match, perhaps a future singles program between Giulia and Vega is on the horizon.

With plenty of NXT call-ups possible over the coming weeks to months, Vega’s reign could end up being cut short by an entirely different force.

Lash Legend, Lola Vice or even a new signing like Mariah May could all be major heel opponents for the fan favorite Zelina Vega.

3. World Tag Team Championship

While the New Day have been able to harness the power of pessimism rather than positivity in their recent run as heels, they could see the end of their WWE World Tag Team Championship reign soon.

Able to hold on to the titles after defenses against the War Raiders and American Made, there aren’t a lot of challengers left.

Backstage on a couple of occasions recently, both Kofi and Xavier were seen in seemingly pleasant conversation with Grayson Waller of A-Town Down Under, suggesting Waller and Austin Theory may be out of the title hunt.

However, there is one team that New Day have yet to face – perhaps to determine who is the greatest tag team of all time – The Hardy Boyz. With Matt and Jeff Hardy rumored to potentially be headed to WWE for a big program this summer, we could truly be poised to see an iconic tag team battle.

2. WWE Women’s Championship

With a stacked division of performers on SmackDown, Tiffany Stratton has accomplished in her first title reign what she needed to accomplish.

Not only did she successfully cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase, but she did so against the oppressive force of Nia Jax – cementing Stratton’s fan favorite status and continuing her rise as a babyface, despite her at times heelish attitude.

Heading into Money in the Bank on June 7, Night of Champions on June 28, and Evolution on July 13, Stratton has a steep schedule to climb if she hopes to retain her title.

Also, with the looming potential that former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May could be debuting in WWE over the summer, and the threat of some big time women’s division NXT call-ups, the WWE Women’s Championship may well change hands before Labor Day.

1. Intercontinental Championship

Dirty Dominik Mysterio was able to capture the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 41, furthering tension with Finn Balor.

With the Judgment Day seemingly on the brink of breaking up for months on end, it now actually seems as though Balor is orchestrating some big time trouble for Dom.

Seemingly bringing Roxanne Perez in to distract Dominik in Liv Morgan‘s absence, it seems like Finn Balor is instigating another break-up for Dirty Dom – and possibly a split from his IC Title too.

Certainly the love triangle story in the Judgment Day will continue into the summer, but Dominik’s reign as IC champ making it past SummerSlam seems less likely.
