While AEW President & CEO Tony Khan yields power over the company’s roster in real life, he hasn’t appeared often as an on-screen authority figure.
However, if AEW were to want to put their own spin on the on-screen authority figure role, they could introduce some new names to potentially take the power away from Khan in storyline.
Here are five potential AEW replacements for Tony Khan.
5. Christopher Daniels
One AEW name that could definitely resume a role in front of the camera as an authority figure is Christopher Daniels.
While his in-ring career has come to an end, Daniels continues to work behind the scenes as AEW’s Head of Talent Relations, as well as making periodic on camera appearances alongside Scorpio Sky’s new group Sky Flight.
Daniels is the only one on this list who actually has experience as an authority-type figure on AEW TV, and while the on-screen role has since been dropped there’s every chance he could pick it up again.
With significant history with many members of the roster, Daniels is a solid choice serve as AEW’s match maker on Dynamite and Collision.

4. Bryan Danielson
After wrapping up his full-time in-ring career at AEW WrestleDream 2024, Bryan Danielson has recently gotten back in front of the camera in the company.
Returning to the forefront on AEW TV, Danielson has an entirely new role on weekly TV as a full-time member of the commentary team.
With the position offering the opportunity to have a hand in shaping how storylines are presented through the job on the call, AEW could go one step further and have Danielson step into an authority role.
Able to play out the transition in roles on-screen in a compelling way, Danielson could redefine the “office” role on screen since it hasn’t fully existed in AEW outside of Tony Khan.

3. Chris Jericho
While Chris Jericho hasn’t been seen on AEW TV since April, he is reportedly still under contract with the company through 2025.
Although rumors that the legendary star could be departing AEW at the end of his contract and re-signing with WWE persist, there is always a chance that Y2J could be re-introduced to AEW audiences once again, complete with a new character direction.
Pivoting to become the new on-screen President of the company, Jericho’s newest character iteration could be a masterful combination of authority figure tropes from professional wrestling history.
While the role would divide the AEW fanbase, if there is anyone that could pull off such a role it is Jericho, particularly as a heel.

2. MJF
There are few AEW stars that have been as consistent a pain in Tony Khan’s backside (in storyline) than MJF.
Most recently MJF and Khan went back-and-forth in an off-screen shouting match that was filmed from outside Khan’s office ahead of AEW All Out, but there could soon be more stories to tell between the two.
Certainly with MJF taking on more acting roles in Hollywood, a shift into a heel authority figure for a spell could be entertaining.
Able to take on a bigger role as an on-screen character whilst not necessarily doing risky matches that could injure him and derail any filming schedules outside of AEW, having MJF take over for Tony Khan on TV would make headlines and make way for some interesting storylines with his old rivals.

1. Kenny Omega
While Kenny Omega has maintained his EVP status in the company, his character on-screen has parted ways from the power hungry Young Bucks.
With Omega potentially winding down his own full-time in-ring career in the near future, he could look to pivot to a different on-screen role.
A fan favorite with legendary status in the industry, Omega could end up being a massive force as an on-screen authority figure if the role was up for grabs in AEW.
While Tony Khan has mostly stayed out of storylines, Omega could definitely jump right in and settle scores that have long histories in the company and beyond.
