After regaining the Undisputed WWE Championship, Cody Rhodes will now defend the title against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42.

This main event match has gotten personal ever since Orton turned heel on Rhodes in a brutal and bloody beatdown on the March 13 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Considering the level of animosity now present between these two men, it feels like Orton and Rhodes may need a stipulation to settle the score once and for all at “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

Here are six potential stipulations for Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes at WWE WrestleMania 42.

6. I Quit

Randy Orton is no stranger to the I Quit stipulation, having one of his most famous matches against John Cena back at WWE Breaking Point 2009.

Knowing fully the violence that it takes to make your opponent utter those words, Orton could brutalize Cody Rhodes to try and capture his 15th world title.

After the bloody attack he suffered at the hands of “The Viper,” Rhodes will be out for blood and vengeance against his former friend.

The I Quit stipulation would set the stage for one of the most violent matches these two men can take part in at WrestleMania 42.

5. Street Fight

Last year at WrestleMania 41, Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest did battle in a Street Fight that delivered one of the best matches on the card.

Based on the animosity now present between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton, a Street Fight seems like an appropriate stipulation for this feud at WrestleMania 42 this year.

With both men wanting to break the other down, Rhodes and Orton will not be looking to hold anything back in this Undisputed WWE Championship match.

Orton and Rhodes facing off in a Street Fight would make for a tantalizing main event contest on the Mania card in Las Vegas.

4. No Holds Barred

In a similar way, a No Holds Barred stipulation would allow for both Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton to not have to hold anything back in this battle at WrestleMania 42.

Given both men’s history in No DQ style matches, this is the kind of stipulation that fits both Orton and Rhodes in a lot of ways.

The heel turn by Orton on Rhodes has driven things to its breaking point, making a no rules battle like this something that would be physically intense at WrestleMania 42.

Rhodes and Orton in a No Holds Barred Match feels like the right kind of stipulation to settle the score between the two men at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

3. Texas Bullrope

“The American Nightmare” has his roots that date back to his father and WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes.

Throughout his career, Rhodes has paid tribute to his father in a variety of different ways and could do so once again at WrestleMania 42.

Rhodes challenging Randy Orton to a Texas Bullrope Match feels appropriate for where both men have been throughout their careers.

With “The Legend Killer” facing Dusty in this stipulation back at WWE Great American Bash 2007, this feels like a perfect choice for Cody to issue the challenge for this bout on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

2. Last Man Standing

One of the most brutal matches in all of WWE has to be a Last Man Standing stipulation.

Beating your opponent to the point that they cannot stand feels like the kind of match that either Cody Rhodes or Randy Orton can thrive in.

Orton has competed in this match type against the likes of Triple H and Edge in the past and would have the experience advantage over Rhodes.

What Rhodes lacks in experience, he can make up for in his level of aggression, wanting to get revenge on Orton after his recent betrayal and walking out of WrestleMania 42 as still the Undisputed WWE Champion.

1. Hell In A Cell

The Hell In A Cell stipulation is the “end-all, be-all” match type that settles feuds once and for all.

This has been the case since the first iteration of this stipulation when it was introduced in 1997 between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at Bad Blood.

Hell In A Cell is also a stipulation that both men have their legacy in with Orton facing the likes of Taker, Jeff Hardy and John Cena in the past, while Rhodes famously facing Seth Rollins with a torn pectoral muscle in the steel structure back in 2022.

Rhodes and Orton stepping inside Hell In A Cell would make for a huge showdown worthy of the WrestleMania stage and decide who rightfully deserves to walk out of Las Vegas as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
