Seth Rollins WWE Mr. Money In The Bank Replacement

WWE Money in the Bank holder Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker

With WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event seeing Seth Rollins suffer a legitimate injury, it seems there could be a need to pivot.

While Rollins holding the Money in the Bank briefcase could continue during his injury – as the contract expires a year after he won it – there are also some other intriguing paths forward.

Here are six potential replacements for Seth Rollins as Mr. Money in the Bank.

6. Bron Breakker

If Seth Rollins is unable to hang on to the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase, a likely candidate to carry it instead is Bron Breakker.

Since the faction could in theory continue without Rollins on-screen – relying on Paul Heyman to do a bulk of the character work while Breakker holds the briefcase could keep the storyline moving.

Bron Breakker could also then be faced with an intriguing dilemma in the future – when Seth Rollins returns, does he really give him back the power or does he overthrow the Visionary?

There could be some really fun stories down the line with this route, although there is another sort of obvious choice.

5. Roman Reigns

WWE star Roman Reigns

While it would be a little bizarre, Roman Reigns really has the ability to return to WWE and just assert that he’s taking the Money in the Bank briefcase.

With an ominous note that if Seth Rollins wants it back, he knows where to find him – done deal! Leaving Paul Heyman stunned, the storyline could evolve over the time Rollins is out of action.

With Breakker, Bronson Reed and of course Heyman looking to recover the briefcase, they could drag out the build for an eventual showdown between Roman and Seth for months to come.

4. CM Punk

Another heated WWE rival of Seth Rollins that could actually just elect to steal the Money in the Bank briefcase through hostile takeover might be CM Punk.

Similarly to Roman Reigns – Punk would be able to slide by on the unique combination of fan support and believable lawlessness that would see his character be able to pull a stunt of this magnitude.

Leading to a tease of potential future drama between himself and Triple H, it might be a nice pivot to bring about more of an anti-authority version of Punk versus his current Mr. TKO iteration.

While it seems more likely that an ally of Rollins’ may carry it for him in his honor – if anyone could find a way to get under the skin of Seth Rollins it would be Punk.

3. Cody Rhodes

It is possible Cody Rhodes could find his way into possession of the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase with a redo of the original ladder match.

With Rhodes subbing in for the injured Rollins, the match could end up being an exciting ladder match for one of the nights at SummerSlam.

With the first-ever two night SummerSlam fast approaching, if a new Money in the Bank ladder match was held early on night one – the drama surrounding every subsequent match could be very fun.

Rhodes would of course have an entire year to cash-in, meaning that if he elected to skip over John Cena and lie in wait for whoever is next – or use the briefcase at the last minute to prevent Cena from retiring with the title – there are new possibilities to involve the Money in the Bank contract in a thrilling way.

2. LA Knight

To make it overly clean – Seth Rollins could vacate the briefcase and it simply goes to LA Knight.

With Knight having the last victory on record over Rollins – when their match finish had to be changed in the moment during their WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event match, it would be a quick fix.

Everything makes sense if you don’t think about it that hard!

A fan favorite that audiences would have been happy to see win the briefcase to begin with, there would likely be little push-back about the outright swap and the merchandising options are endless.

1. The Rock

The Rock on WWE SmackDown

You know who could just totally make their own rules and shirk all tradition regarding the WWE Money in the Bank briefcase – The Final Boss, The Rock.

Similarly to Roman, he could just take the briefcase but more interestingly would be for him to grant it to a specific star – but then take it away again when they displeased him in some way.

Showing off a truly sociopathic bend to the Final Boss character rather than his current motivations that could be explained away from old rivalries or business beliefs – it would help build the aura of the Final Boss.

Mirroring the Bloodline’s pattern of devaluing and discarding – the Final Boss would likely collect more enemies than allies in the process but it would open a lot of storyline doors.
