Santos Escobar WWE Return Plans

While reports surfaced that Santos Escobar had departed WWE after his contract expired, he is reportedly no longer a free agent and has rejoined the company.

With Santos Escobar said to have re-signed to a new contract with WWE, there would certainly seem to be some compelling creative coming his character’s way soon, with the company putting an increased focus on the Legado Del Fantasma frontman.

Here are six return plans for Santos Escobar in WWE now that he has reportedly re-signed with the company.

6. Joining Judgment Day

Since his feud with Rey Mysterio was compelling but ultimately a little unsatisfying, perhaps Escobar isn’t done thumbing his nose at the WWE Hall of Famer yet.

Potentially linking up with “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio and The Judgment Day, Escobar could end up proving to be the catalyst that finally takes the Intercontinental Champion out of the faction.

Able to sew seeds of dissension with Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez and the WWE World Tag Team Champions JD McDonagh and Finn Balor – it could be that Santos Escobar finally gets Dominik ousted from the group.

Able to channel a mischievous and conniving character to go alongside his impressive in-ring talents, Escobar could look to become the singles champ in the group.

5. New Babyface Faction

A good amount of time has passed since Santos Escobar turned heel – but he wasn’t always so dastardly in NXT.

Potentially able to return to TV with a renewed sense of righteousness, there could be a very good reason for Escobar to turn babyface.

With old NXT Legado del Fantasma members Joaquin Wilde & Cruz Del Toro still on the WWE Raw the group could get back together.

Potentially reinvigorating the LWO again on the main roster, Escobar could prove he has what it takes to be babyface faction leader on the main roster.

4. Feud With Dragon Lee

If Santos Escobar was not planning on returning to WWE as a babyface, he could make for a very powerful foe for Dragon Lee.

Bringing about a potentially big rivalry for both underutilized stars, there could be some added stakes, including new alliances.

Scrapping the repetitive entanglements between the LWO and Legado Del Fantasma, it could be that the duo seek partnerships outside of their past stables.

With Escobar boasting rivalries with the likes of Tony D’Angelo and Bron Breakker – he could utilize some interesting backup in his quest to take out Dragon Lee.

3. Join Aleister Black

One possibility if Santos Escobar was going to remain on SmackDown would be for him to get involved with the growing enigma of Aleister Black.

With an upcoming Street Fight between Aleister Black and Damian Priest seemingly looking to settle their feud, perhaps a new one could be on the horizon for Priest.

If Escobar was to make his return and reveal a new dark alliance with Aleister Black, there could be some very intriguing storylines that move forward.

Whether or not the duo would begin recruiting new members, take on the Wyatt Sicks for the WWE Tag Team Championship or something else entirely – it could be an interesting twist on the expected from both performers.

2. Shock United States Championship Win & Feud With Sami Zayn

WWE US Champion Sami Zayn

Although Santos Escobar will not have departed SmackDown in storyline, his in-ring return could still prove to be an exciting one for fans.

While there has been a compelling series of matches that have resulted from Zayn’s Open Challenge concept, if Escobar was to return and capture the United States Championship from Zayn through dastardly means – it could make way for a more substantive feud between the two.

With Zayn wanting to reclaim the title to continue the concept that has been punishing albeit rewarding to the veteran character, the duo could end up having a fun series.

Since both performers are capable of both excellent in-ring work but also character work in backstage and pre-taped segments – feuding with Zayn could be a great strategic return option for Escobar to gain traction on SmackDown.

1. Join The Vision Faction

While some fans continue to wonder if there are still set to be more members of Seth Rollins’ faction The Vision yet to be revealed – perhaps Santos Escobar could fit the bill.

Able to leverage his past rivalry with Bron Breakker, Escobar would certainly fit the mold of being a threatening in-ring force alongside Breakker and Bronson Reed.

With previous reports noting that NXT names Ethan Page and Ricky Saints had been considered to join the squad, it could be that Rollins is still in search of the perfect fourth member.

Bringing together the headline grabbing details regarding his contract status, The Vision and Paul Heyman could bring Escobar into their growing family, perhaps as soon as WWE Crown Jewel this Saturday.
