With Roman Reigns still absent ahead of WWE SummerSlam 2025, the Tribal Chief is expected be back soon for a new feud.
From settling old scores to starting new rivalries, there are plenty of options for opponents to tangle with Reigns at the big event on August 2 and 3.
Here are six potential WWE SummerSlam 2025 opponents for Roman Reigns.
6. CM Punk

While both CM Punk and Roman Reigns were betrayed by Paul Heyman at WrestleMania 41, Punk has seemingly moved on more easily than Roman.
It is possible that Reigns would have used his time off to contemplate his enemies and their role in his current demise – including finding someone to blame.
Likely to use CM Punk as a conduit for his rage over the betrayal, Reigns could end up really having a bone to pick with Punk.
From Roman’s perspective – if CM Punk hadn’t inserted himself into Reigns’ orbit in the first place, none of this would be happening and therefore he could be out for revenge.

5. John Cena, Seth Rollins & Cody Rhodes

While Cody Rhodes has earned rematch with at John Cena at WWE SummerSlam by winning the King of the Ring tournament, there is definitely room for twists and turns to ramp up the star power for the event.
With WWE set to host the first-ever two night SummerSlam, finding a way to get four top stars into the same match might be the perfect direction to take.
There is a lot of tension between all four men proposed – Roman Reigns taking on Cena, Seth Rollins and Rhodes would be a legendary match that is unlikely to have the chance to occur again.
While John Cena’s number of appearances continues to tick down with rapid speed, perhaps this is Reigns’ only shot at heel Cena.

4. Goldberg

There is a distinct possibility that by the time SummerSlam arrives, Goldberg could be WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
While Goldberg would first have to defeat GUNTHER to get there, seeing another battle of the Spears could be in the future.
Goldberg and Roman Reigns were set to face-off at WrestleMania 36 in 2020 before the match was canceled, but they would eventually meet at Elimination Chamber in 2022.
While the match could be made to be simply between Reigns and Goldberg, the looming threat of Seth Rollins potentially cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase would prove to be an intriguing element as well.

3. Karrion Kross

Since there has been a recent swell of support for Karrion Kross, perhaps he could be the one to take on the returning Roman Reigns at SummerSlam.
While Reigns has nothing to do with Kross, Kross could definitely have rationale to target the Tribal Chief.
From a reality based angle where Kross accuses Reigns of being a part-timer on his way out to Hollywood yet still occupying the top of the card, to one where Kross seeks to manipulate a master manipulator – there are ways this could come together.
While some of the fanbase is desperate for WWE to give Kross a chance, maybe facing Roman Reigns is the place to start.

2. Bron Breakker

Roman Reigns was last seen on on TV at the WWE Raw after WrestleMania 41 when he suffered a beatdown at the hands of Seth Rollins’ new ally, Bron Breakker.
Since it seems that Rollins could be otherwise occupied – still lurking behind CM Punk while also carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase – perhaps Reigns will return to take on one of Rollins’ faction members.
While Reigns could always face off against Bronson Reed, a more intriguing choice would be Bron Breakker. However, it would be unlikely that either would obtain a clean victory.
With a high likelihood for a competitive match with a lot of shenanigans at the finish, Reigns vs. Breakker at SummerSlam could be a fun tease to a bigger rivalry.

1. Logan Paul

While it seems vaguely recent, the Crown Jewel showdown between Logan Paul and Roman Reigns was actually back in November 2022 – almost three years ago.
With Paul continuing to excel as a performer in WWE, it could be a fun diversion to see Roman Reigns and Paul run it back at SummerSlam 2025.
Given the first-ever two night SummerSlam, Reigns seems likely for some kind of high profile match with a notable name – even if the build ends up being relatively short.
