The WWE vs AEW rivalry has been a topic of conversation today after some comments made by WWE President Nick Khan.

The idea of the two companies working together for a show seems just about impossible, but there’s no denying it would be a card full of some ultimate dream matches.

Here are some predicted matches for a potential WWE vs AEW crossover show.

CM Punk vs. Swerve Strickland

While the pair did participate in a multi-man match against one another in AEW, this duo never truly tangled in a solo feud.

Punk told a compelling emotional story in AEW with MJF – something that would be easy enough to re-visit – but instead, it would be intriguing to see something new.

With Swerve Strickland going on to hold the mantle of AEW in some ways since CM Punk’s departure, the pair could tell a really compelling story about Punk’s time in the company without the direct emotional baggage.

Swerve has commented that his interactions with Punk were always positive albeit brief during their time together in AEW – perhaps making him the perfect person to face off against.

The Usos vs. Young Bucks

One of the most obvious is also often cited as a dream match – the ultimate brothers versus brothers showdown.

Once and for all looking to establish which brother duo, either twins Jimmy and Jey Uso or brothers Nick and Matt Jackson, are the dominant tag team in professional wrestling, there would be big brand warfare feel for this one.

Another incredible dream match would actually be two teams from WWE and two from AEW – The New Day and The Usos taking on FTR and The Young Bucks.

With serious history between the teams from each company, there would definitely be an added element of drama that was fun for everyone involved.

Bayley vs. Mercedes Mone

While some fans assume that Mercedes Mone will one day make her way back to WWE and fans will hopefully get this match anyway, it would be iconic to see it at a crossover event.

With the pair of real life best friends known for being very supportive of one another outside of the ring, they’ve had some legendary standoffs inside the ring as well.

Each woman is in a very different phase of their career since their iconic NXT Takeover: Brooklyn match.

Seeing these two make magic together in a brand new way – essentially with two brand new characters – would be incredible.

Chelsea Green vs. Deonna Purrazzo

Speaking of a pair of real life friends that can put on amazing in-ring performances – current WWE United States Champion Chelsea Green and AEW’s Deonna Purrazzo.

While the duo made memorable tag team champions in the TNA Knockouts division, their present day iterations would make for an interesting match-up.

Changing nothing about their current characters could lend to an amazing cast of characters between Chelsea and her Secret Hervice in Piper Niven and Alba Fyre along with Purrzzo’s current partner in crime, Taya Valkyrie – that is a lot of talent all in one program.

Conversely the match could be used to show a whole different side of the competitors who are both, at the end of the day, incredibly talented wrestlers as well as performers.

Cody Rhodes vs. Will Ospreay

It would be incredible to see WWE’s most beloved babyface take on AEW’s most beloved babyface purely to see who would win.

While the pair did face off in NJPW, both Cody Rhodes and Will Ospreay are clearly now on an entirely new level in many different aspects of their careers.

Both able to craft very personal connections with the audience as well as the in-ring abilities to back it up, there would be no doubt that this match would have magical moments.

Potentially the most thrilling of the matches on this particular event card – this one could steal the show.

Seth Rollins vs. Kenny Omega

Bringing together arguably two of the top overall entertainers currently active in professional wrestling, letting these two just run wild would be legendary.

With Rollins finally having an outside source to direct his ever-present rage towards – after repeatedly criticizing others with pasts in AEW of having attempted to ‘tear down’ what WWE was working to build – he could actually get his hands on an active AEW EVP.

So there is some actual emotional depth to be pulled from as well, but moreover… it would just be fun to see them fight.

These two would probably do well to have some sort of falls count anywhere and/or street fight stipulation to ratchet up the drama in the match.

Roman Reigns vs. MJF

Talk about generational talents – pitting WWE star Roman Reigns against AEW’s MJF would be massive.

Both representing in some ways the pinnacle of their respective companies, it would be very intriguing to see this program.

With Roman Reigns already asserting that he is levels above the entire WWE roster, a compelling sublayer of story would be Reigns being irritated that he is even required to attend, only to be at least partially humbled when the match rolled around.

While it doesn’t seem entirely realistic to think there will be a WWE x AEW crossover event any time soon – if MJF finds himself in WWE one day, he may tangle with the Tribal Chief for real.
