While Nick Aldis is a popular on-screen character as SmackDown General Manager, he’s never competed in WWE.
Coming from his own in-ring career that saw him win titles in TNA Wrestling, the NWA and NJPW, Nick Aldis could have some iconic in-ring moments still ahead of him.
Here are seven ways that Nick Aldis could make his WWE in-ring debut.
7. Nick Aldis vs. Drew McIntyre
With the authority figure role that Nick Aldis has played on WWE SmackDown thus far in his tenure in the company, he has bumped heads occasionally with talent.
One massive name that he could end up scrapping with is Drew McIntyre.
With McIntyre notably having a disdain for any attempts at controlling his freewill, he may end up needing to go through Aldis to get to his next intended target. Since it seems Drew McIntyre is gunning for Cody Rhodes, perhaps he will have to go through Nick Aldis to do it.
If McIntyre were to have to beat Nick Aldis in a match in order to become the number one contender to Rhodes’ title, there could be a stunning in-ring debut from Aldis who has yet to be able to show off that particular set of skills in WWE.

6. Nick Aldis vs. Randy Orton
Already having had several physical encounters with Nick Aldis, Randy Orton seems like a likely candidate for a potential future match.
While there was a potential showdown between the two teased ahead of WrestleMania 41 after Kevin Owens was pulled from action due to injury, it seemed that perhaps Randy Orton’s replacement opponent might have ended up being Nick Aldis.
In the end, it was revealed to be Joe Hendry, but fans still wonder about what could have been if Orton were to have faced Nick Aldis.
With a built-in storyline already in place, hopefully Nick Aldis gets into the ring with Randy Orton one day in the future.

5. Challenging Dominik Mysterio
During Nick Aldis’ debut segment in WWE, he had an amusing exchange with Dirty Dominik Mysterio that immediately made clear the kind of General Manager Aldis would be.
Cool and calm but also cutting, Aldis would stun Dom by noting that he was a big fan… of Rey Mysterio, that is.
While Dom has been largely Adam Pearce’s problem on WWE Raw as a member of the Judgment Day, Dominik’s obnoxiousness could definitely transcend brands.
Potentially earning the ire of Nick Aldis from meddling in SmackDown business, an official match between the pair would be wildly entertaining.

4. Mixed Tag Team Match With Mickie James
One way for Nick Aldis to make his WWE in-ring debut could be in tag team action.
With power couples like Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch and CM Punk & AJ Lee poised to do war in a mixed tag team match at Wrestlepalooza, there is more wrestling royalty in the locker room.
Nick Aldis is married to WWE and TNA Wrestling legend Mickie James – a detail that could always come back around to spur in-ring competition.
With a variety of real-life couples and friendship pairings that could hit the ground running if there were to be a mixed tag tournament or another iteration of the former WWE Mixed Match Challenge – Aldis would certainly have a jump on the competition.

3. Nick Aldis vs. Adam Pearce
While much is made of Nick Aldis’ past as an in-ring talent, we would be remiss to overlook Adam Pearce as another WWE triple threat.
Holding down a role backstage as well as on-screen, Adam Pearce also had his own lengthy in-ring career as well.
With a match against Aldis right there for the booking, it could be a fun way for both to get back into in-ring action on TV ahead of perhaps a bigger match.
Although Survivor Series has abandoned the brand warfare concept in recent years in favor of WarGames – why not have Pearce & Aldis lead their respective teams into battle and have both?

2. Sami Zayn Open Challenge
Since Sami Zayn is intent on re-introducing the United States Championship Open Challenge on SmackDown, it would make sense to see some unlikely opponents come forward.
Potentially opening the door for an in-ring debut, Nick Aldis could snag the opportunity and challenge Zayn.
In what could make for a very compelling story, Aldis would have very little to lose in the bout but everything to gain if he were to win.
Able to appear strong in defeat – perhaps by an interference rather than actually losing clean to Zayn – Aldis would certainly use the moment to show fans what he is capable of in the ring.

1. Entering King Of The Ring
Nick Aldis’ in-ring debut in WWE has been hotly anticipated since his arrival in the company.
Subsequently his actual debut should probably be accompanied by a storyline of substance – one that could easily be provided by the King of the Ring tournament.
Having Aldis join the field could leave the opportunity for numerous dream matches to happen without causing any specific character changes.
Able to mix it up in the ring with babyfaces and heels with equal measure in a tournament setting, Aldis could plant seeds for a more conclusive orientation to be revealed in the future.
