While a veteran of the professional wrestling industry, WWE SmackDown GM Nick Aldis has never had an official WWE debut match.

However in his role as an authority figure, he has picked up numerous potential rivals if he were to lace up his boots and join the in-ring action in WWE.

Here are six potential opponents for Nick Aldis to take on in his debut WWE match.

6. Randy Orton

There have been a few teases that would suggest that if Nick Aldis were to hit the ring in WWE – Randy Orton would be the ideal feud.

With the pair of veterans already having had a series of contentious exchanges in storyline – it just makes sense.

After delivering yet another RKO to Aldis ahead of WrestleMania 41, it seemed possible that this match could end up coming about but in the end it did not.

Rather, Orton faced off against Joe Hendry at the event and Nick Aldis has remained out of in-ring action.

5. Adam Pearce

While much is made of Nick Aldis’ past as an in-ring talent, we would be remiss to overlook Adam Pearce as another triple threat.

Not only does he have a role backstage and on-screen, Pearce also has a lengthy history in-ring himself.

With a match against Aldis seeming to be a fun way to determine some sort of brand advantage – it could also be just for fun.

With Survivor Series having abandoned a brand warfare concept over the past several years in favor of storyline driven War Games matches – maybe this November could see Pearce and Aldis leading their own respective teams into in-ring battle instead.

4. Joe Hendry

Looking outside of the WWE main roster, one possible opponent could be TNA Wrestling star Joe Hendry.

Potentially a way to incorporate the fan favorite star for another main roster appearance before his time with TNA comes to an end – Hendry wouldn’t lose a lot in defeat.

Able to face Nick Aldis and not only appear to be a formidable foe but also help to make the SmackDown GM look great, it could be a great fit.

Potentially able to revisit the match in the future in the likely event Joe Hendry signs with WWE – it could be a compelling long-term story.

3. Matt Cardona

One non-WWE roster choice from TNA Wrestling could come already front loaded with a hilarious reason to be taking on Nick Aldis in the ring.

Real-life husband of Chelsea Green and continued “Indy God” Matt Cardona have certainly already gone one-on-one in the past in NWA.

With continual conflict with Chelsea Green during her time on the SmackDown brand, it would be very fun to see a future TNA Wrestling crossover featuring Cardona taking on Aldis.

While their rivalry certainly could have a serious tone – for the entertainment purposes it would be an enjoyable albeit silly affair for an in-ring return for Aldis.

2. Trick Williams

WWE NXT's Trick Williams

In case you haven’t been keeping up TNA Wrestling, there have been a few intriguing recent developments.

Namely, in continued crossover with NXT, the current Knockouts Champion is NXT star Jacy Jayne and the TNA Wrestling World Champion is Trick Williams.

While there are a variety of ways for Williams to drop the title, one such route could be a surprise appearance from the SmackDown GM and former TNA Champion, Nick Aldis.

Winning the TNA Wrestling Championship once in his seven year tenure in the company, Aldis was the first British-born champion in the company’s history.

1. Drew McIntyre

One of the more compelling conflicts in WWE is between Drew McIntyre and Nick Aldis.

With continued tension, McIntyre would seemingly be a great future candidate to actually mix it up in the ring with Aldis.

There are plenty of storyline routes to take that would make this make sense but most importantly – Aldis could finally get his hands on the insubordinate McIntyre without any repercussions.

What could be a nice comeuppance moment for Aldis in the short-term, it could also be a tremendous solidification of McIntyre’s ruthlessness as a heel if he were to effectively take out the beloved SmackDown GM.
