While AEW continues to cultivate a roster full of top talent, there are still some potential new signings on the horizon.

With several recently departed WWE stars still notable free agents as well as potential pick-ups from elsewhere around professional wrestling, there could be some exciting new signings coming in AEW.

Here are seven new potential AEW signings that could be coming soon.

7. Gabe Kidd

One potential AEW signing from NJPW that is already familiar to the audience is Gabe Kidd.

Having already made his presence in AEW known, Kidd is poised to have a big spot at AEW Forbidden Door as well.

AEW Forbidden Door is set to host a Lights Out steel cage match featuring Will Ospreay, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Darby Allin & Hiroshi Tanahashi taking on Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, Claudio Castagnoli & Gabe Kidd.

With the potential for massive feuds in AEW including with the likes of Swerve Strickland, Will Ospreay and Eddie Kingston – Kidd could definitely make more appearances in the company in the future.

6. Dakota Kai

One of the stars that fans expressed surprise about when she was released by WWE in May was Dakota Kai.

Actively involved in storylines and even recently having been in contention for the new Women’s Intercontinental Championship, there seemed to be more left to do with Kai.

With veteran in-ring skills, the fan favorite could find herself in immediate contention for top titles in AEW.

Potentially kicking up a rivalry with either Toni Storm or Mercedes Mone, Kai could end up with an iconic run in AEW if she joins the promotion.

5. Karrion Kross & Scarlett

One potential new AEW signing could be recently departed WWE stars Karrion Kross & Scarlett.

Despite fans wondering if their WWE exit was a storyline ruse, it doesn’t appear to be that way. Kross has state numerous times that he and Scarlett are no longer with WWE, they have already been announced for independent wrestling bookings and made a surprise appearance at GCW Homecoming last night.

Kross has also been announced to be appearing for DEFY Wrestling in Seattle on September 19 and both Kross and Scarlett for Wrestle Pro in New Jersey on September 21.

However, Kross did say recently that he had received no contact from AEW after news of his WWE exit broke, so it remains to be seen whether that will change.

4. Shayna Baszler

While she was a dominant force in NXT, Shayna Baszler never had the chance to hold a singles championship on the WWE main roster.

However, now that she has departed WWE, her ‘Queen of Spades’ character could be an incredible addition to AEW as it continues to carve out a unique women’s division.

While it would seem possible that Baszler could return to WWE in a backstage capacity as she spent time working in NXT behind-the-scenes, she has commented that she isn’t certain she’s ready to hang up her in-ring career just yet.

Rather, there are still plenty of stories for Baszler to tell in pro wrestling, hopefully linking up with the more vicious and violent AEW style.

3. Isla Dawn

One recently departed WWE star has already made her debut in AEW is Isla Dawn.

In Dawn’s hometown of Glasgow at the AEW Collision taping this week, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion made her in-ring debut in AEW, losing to Megan Bayne.

While it isn’t uncommon for independent wrestling talent to make appearances in AEW, the appearance could signal that there are more opportunities in the future with the company.

Perhaps there is still more to come from Isla Dawn in AEW, possibly even a full-time deal.

2. Bea Priestley

In what could be a unique case of an AEW star leaving the promotion, joining WWE, then returning back to AEW, Bea Priestley (formerly known as Blair Davenport in WWE) is available after her WWE release earlier this year.

Since exiting WWE, Priestley has already had matches in NJPW and STARDOM as she makes her mark on the next phase of her career.

Set for a showdown in the near future against Saya Kamitani at the STARDOM TO THE WORLD 2025 event in September, perhaps Priestley is headed to become STARDOM Champion before arriving in AEW.

With AEW continuing to have exciting partnerships with the likes of NJPW, CMLL and STARDOM, there’s also always a chance Priestley pops back up in AEW without re-signing with the company directly.

1. KUSHIDA

Another notable name that could find himself a future signing in AEW, KUSHIDA continues to entertain fans in NJPW.

Engaging in both singles action and tag team rivalries, KUSHIDA has built in history with numerous members of the current AEW roster, and even had one match for the promotion back in January 2023 when he unsuccessfully challenged Darby Allin for the TNT Championship.

Able to join back up with his former Intergalactic Jet Setters tag partner Kevin Knight in AEW, there could even be a new trio formed.

Should Knight bring together his new tag team partner Speedball Mike Bailey and his old pal KUSHIDA, they could become a force in the AEW trios division.
