There could be a new on-screen general manager ready to take over Wednesday nights on AEW Dynamite.

While the on-screen GM role is not new, it hasn’t been frequently utilized in AEW – creating an intriguing prospect of which stars could potentially fill the role.

Here are seven potential AEW Dynamite General Managers should Tony Khan look to have an on-screen authority figure.

7. Sting

AEW star Sting

A beloved veteran of professional wrestling, Sting retired from in-ring competition but remains under contract with AEW.

While he has made some periodic appearances, he could make a remarkable on-screen GM.

Sting would be able to utilize his powers of mediation in a variety of settings but most importantly – would be a babyface authority figure which isn’t the easiest task to pull off.

Able to defuse conflicts but also – stir up some trouble when necessary, Sting could be a great deal of fun as the GM of Dynamite.

6. Bryan Danielson

After making a few recent appearances in AEW, fans have begun to wonder if there could be an on-screen return from Bryan Danielson.

While his full-time in-ring career may have come to a close, that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be future appearances from the former AEW World Champion.

While he has a history as being an on-screen authority figure in WWE, it would be much more entertaining to see an unleashed Danielson as a GM in AEW.

Particularly in light of having a complex relational dynamic with so many of the on-screen characters still active in AEW – Danielson’s on-screen presence could certainly drive a new level of storytelling.

Chris Jericho has remained off of AEW TV since early April when he seemingly dumped his Learning Tree faction (Big Bill and Bryan Keith) on an episode of AEW Dynamite.

Clearly distraught after losing the ROH World Title at AEW Dynasty, Jericho announced his departure on-screen with note that he was taking time away.

While he has yet to return – perhaps his reappearance could come with the introduction of a brand new role for the legendary star.

Serving as a heel authority figure, Jericho could make a huge impact with an immediate storyline.

4. Mick Foley

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley

Mick Foley could be the ideal candidate to be a AEW Dynamite General Manager should the role ever come up.

While Foley has confirmed that he would not be looking to compete in-ring competition again after consulting with a doctor – he has never ruled out a return to TV.

Beloved by professional wrestling fans of multiple generations, Foley has already demonstrated his abilities as an iconic authority figure.

Foley’s range from silly to serious would be a huge benefit to Dynamite and any backstage segments for the GM to move the storylines along outside the ring.

3. Britt Baker

Britt Baker

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. has been off of AEW TV since November 2024 but Tony Khan has recently commented that she is still under contract with the company.

While it seems that any potential return is awaiting the right storyline, one way for her to return could be to a GM on Dynamite.

Able to lean into a heelish authority figure role, Baker could bring an entertaining on-screen persona that would stand up to any character in AEW, male or female.

After having abandoned her pandemic era “Waiting Room” talk show segment, perhaps a new version for her GM office could pop-up in the future.

While Perry appeared for NJPW in early January, he has yet to make a return to screens in AEW or ROH.

1. Jeff Jarrett

While he may primarily appear on AEW pay-per-view pre-show panels, Jeff Jarrett seemingly remains an active part of AEW behind the scenes.

Having signed with the company in November 2022, it isn’t clear when his contract with the company is set to expire.

Assuming Jarrett is set to remain with AEW for the foreseeable future – being GM on Dynamite could be a great fit.

Able to play the role in either a babyface or heel light depending on the antics, Jarrett could recreate what it means to be an on-screen GM in pro wrestling today.
