On the March 30 edition of WWE Raw, Penta defeated Kofi Kingston to retain the Intercontinental Championship.

After his latest victory, Penta announced that he would be defending his title in a Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42.

Following this announcement, it was revealed Je’Von Evans, JD McDonagh, Dragon Lee and Rusev would be the first challengers for this ladder match, but there is still time to add even more names to this huge multi-man title bout at Mania.

Here are seven more WWE stars to be potentially added to the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42.

7. Kofi Kingston

Following his loss against Penta on WWE Raw, Kofi Kingston might be looking to regroup and regain his momentum.

The New Day member is a former four-time Intercontinental Champion and wants to regain some gold.

After coming up short against Penta in Madison Square Garden, it might be time for Kingston to earn his spot at WrestleMania 42.

With his WWE World Tag Team Title win at last year’s WrestleMania 41 alongside Xavier Woods, Kingston will want to walk out this year’s “Show of Shows” with more gold and could enter the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match.

6. El Grande Americano

Another competitor who recently lost to Penta in an Intercontinental Championship bout was El Grande Americano.

The masked luchador is someone who will be looking to get back into contention and could do so in time for WrestleMania 42.

After several battles against Penta over the past few months, there might not be anyone more motivated to win gold at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

Since he has played a major role in the title picture, El Grande could find some way to get himself in the mix for this IC Title Ladder Match in a few weeks time.

5. The Original El Grande Americano

Speaking of El Grande Americano, he has been embroiled in a feud with The Original El Grande Americano since WWE Royal Rumble 2026.

Back on the March 9 episode of WWE Raw, The Original El Grande was scheduled to challenge Penta for the Intercontinental Championship.

However, a curse from Danhausen and an attack from Los Americanos led to The Original El Grande losing out on this opportunity.

After not being in action since this incident, The Original El Grande could make it back in time for WrestleMania 42 where he could be a major part of this IC Title Ladder Match in Las Vegas.

While most of the field for the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match consists of stars from the WWE Raw roster, it has not been specified that this bout will only be from the red brand.

Looking on Friday Night SmackDown, Aleister Black has been someone that has garnered some momentum as of late.

Over the last two months, Black has been able to earn a victory over the number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Randy Orton and the current United States Champion Sami Zayn.

With these massive victories, Black could insert himself into the list of challengers who want to get their hands on the IC Title by becoming the latest addition for this Mania Ladder Match.

3. El Hijo del Vikingo

WWE and AAA star El Hijo Del Vikingo

At the AAA Rey de Reyes Night One event, Dominik Mysterio defeated El Hijo del Vikingo to retain the AAA Mega Championship. Thanks to his loss, Vikingo will never challenge for the Mega Title as long as “Dirty Dom” is champion.

Looking to turn his attention to other gold, Vikingo issued a challenge to Penta for the Intercontinental Championship on the Rey de Reyes Night 3 show.

This led to a title match being set up between Penta and Vikingo for the April 11 edition of AAA on FOX.

Regardless of the result of this bout, Vikingo would make for an exciting addition to the IC Title Ladder Match at WrestleMania 42 and could turn heads with what he is capable of doing in this stipulation on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

2. Rey Fenix

Another SmackDown talent who might have some interest in such a thrilling bout like this is Rey Fenix.

Since arriving in WWE, Fenix has been impressing the fans with his aerial exploits and ability inside the squared circle.

While his brother Penta is currently the Intercontinental Champion, Fenix has shown in the past that he is never scared to test his ability against his blood.

Fenix entering the IC Title Ladder Match could give him an excellent opportunity to show what he can do and what he was willing to do to finally become a champion at WrestleMania 42.

1. Sheamus

No one has been more enamoured with winning the Intercontinental Championship quite like Sheamus.

“The Celtic Warrior” has accomplished quite a lot during his time on the WWE main roster, including multiple reigns as WWE World Champion, Mr. Money In The Bank and a Royal Rumble winner.

The one accolade that has eluded Sheamus for many years has been capturing the Intercontinental Championship.

While he is currently sidelined following surgery on his shoulder, Sheamus could finally become a Grand Slam Champion by climbing the ladder to win the IC Title at WrestleMania 42 from Allegiant Stadium.
