With only four appearances left for John Cena in WWE after today’s Crown Jewel Premium Live Event, the home stretch of his farewell tour is truly here.

While there aren’t many chances left to see John Cena in WWE before he ends his in-ring career forever, his final PLE match is set for Survivor Series 2025 in San Diego.

Here are six potential plans for John Cena at WWE Survivor Series 2025.

6. John Cena vs. Dominik Mysterio For The Intercontinental Championship

It has been reported by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer that the plan for John Cena at Survivor Series will be to face Dominik Mysterio in an Intercontinental Championship match.

Notably the IC title continues to elude Cena, never having won the belt during his career and thereby preventing him from achieving the coveted WWE Grand Slam accolade.

Separately it was also noted that Rey Mysterio wasn’t planned for a match on the card but was seemingly set to be cleared soon, potentially suggesting some involvement from the elder Mysterio in the angle.

With Cena attempting Mysterio’s signature 619 finishing move during his Crown Jewel 2025 match against AJ Styles – perhaps we’ll see some tag team action before the end of Cena’s run.

5. John Cena & Rey Mysterio vs. Dominik Mysterio & Finn Balor

With the number of dates left on John Cena’s schedule, there is a way that he will have already beaten Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship ahead of Survivor Series.

Set for WWE Raw dates on November 10 in his hometown of Boston as well as the following week, November 17 in New York City – perhaps Cena will take on Mysterio on an episode of WWE Raw.

Instead leading to a potential tag team effort at Survivor Series could find the returning Rey Mysterio team with John Cena to take on “Dirty Dom” and fellow Judgment Day member, Finn Balor.

Leaving room for some intriguing action between John Cena and Finn Balor, a singles bout that hasn’t happen on the retirement tour to date – perhaps Survivor Series will see an even bigger match than the one rumored.

4. John Cena vs. The Miz

One potential opponent for John Cena from his history of heated WWE rivalries is The Miz.

The Miz was away from WWE for a period of the farewell tour – hosting the reboot of American Gladiators when it filmed the first two seasons back-to-back earlier in 2025. Recently returning to TV, Miz turned heel when he attacked former partner Carmelo Hayes for wanting to break-up.

With Cena paying homage to the “A-Lister” during his match with AJ Styles, delivering a Skull Crushing Finale to Styles – perhaps there is still ground to cover between Cena and The Miz.

Marking the end of a pivotal chapter in WWE history, the pair of reliable legends could end up showcasing their talents in the ring in a brand new and magical way.

3. John Cena vs. GUNTHER

GUNTHER hasn’t returned to WWE since his SummerSlam 2025 loss against CM Punk for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

However it seems that perhaps he is on the verge of making a return, if some recent reports regarding John Cena’s final opponent ring true.

It has been reported by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer that note GUNTHER will be Cena’s final opponent at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event – with the distinction reportedly planned to be determined via a tournament.

Although since there is always a possibility that false information could be leaked to obscure the real plans on deck – perhaps fans will see Cena vs. GUNTHER at Survivor Series instead.

2. John Cena vs. Bron Breakker

With so few dates left on the farewell tour for John Cena, it would make total sense to see him take on a new opponent in addition to old rivals.

Potentially looking to give a boost to the next generation on his way out of the company, it could be that Cena ends up using his last PLE match to take on WWE’s future top star Bron Breakker.

With Bron Breakker already being involved in top storylines in WWE, it would make sense to see him take on Cena.

Shaking up the expected series for his final matches, Bron Breakker could end up being an electrifying last PLE battle for John Cena.

1. John Cena vs. The Rock

While the character of John Cena was always a babyface throughout his career, this last year saw him brave a brand new world when he turned heel.

With his dastardly actions seemingly coming at the behest of The Final Boss, it would make sense to see follow up now that all is right with the world and Cena has become a babyface again.

While it seems rather unlikely that they have a match with such short notice, perhaps there has been something percolating behind the scenes all along.

It is entirely possible that no resolution comes about between the pair of characters before Cena’s retirement, leaving emotional threads that could always be pulled on later for scenes beyond in-ring action.
