This opens the door for “The Never Seen 17” to interact with stars and potentially alter some of the stories being told on “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

Here are six potential John Cena plans as the host of WWE WrestleMania 42.

6. An In-Ring Segment With Danhausen

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen made his debut with the company as the individual inside of the mystery crate.

Since then, the former AEW star has appeared in several different backstage segments and to make announcements on Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown.

John Cena serving as the host of WWE WrestleMania 42 should set up some interactions with current stars on the roster.

Considering his undeniable charisma and the connection he has formed with WWE, Danhausen could appear at Mania to have an in-ring segment with Cena to see how these two characters work together.

5. Announcing R-Truth As His Co-Host For WrestleMania

Over the past few years, R-Truth has revealed himself as John Cena’s biggest fan, usually being seen doing his moveset during matches.

Even after Cena’s retirement, Truth pays tribute to his favorite WWE wrestler of all time during his bouts.

With “The Never Seen 17” being announced as the host of WrestleMania 42, he could announce Truth as his co-hosts for the event.

Cena and Truth working as a unit to do all the hosting duties for “The Showcase of the Immortals” could create some hilarious yet memorable moments over the course of the two-night PLE.

4. Endorsing Oba Femi As The Next Top Star Of WWE

On the March 16 edition of WWE Raw, Oba Femi answered Brock Lesnar’s open challenge for WrestleMania 42 by hitting him with the Fall From Grace and placing his foot on Brock’s chest.

This rivalry seems to be setting up Femi for the biggest match and potentially win of his entire career.

With a victory over “The Beast Incarnate,” Femi would cement himself as the next top star of WWE moving forward.

To further solidify him as the newest main eventer, John Cena could endorse Femi and pass the torch to the next top star in the promotion at WrestleMania 42.

3. Revealing Himself As Randy Orton’s Mystery Caller

On the March 13 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton turned heel on Cody Rhodes with a brutal and bloody beatdown.

Since then, Orton has been seen talking with a mystery caller over the phone, who has helped him realize who he really is.

This has caused fans to ask questions about who this mystery caller could potentially be, whether it be someone from Orton’s past or a legendary star.

Checking both boxes, John Cena could reveal himself as the individual who has caused this change in Orton and helped him realize the “killer” he truly is as well as needs to be to defeat Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

2. Placing Himself As The Special Guest Referee For CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns For The World Heavyweight Championship

At WWE WrestleMania 42, CM Punk will defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns.

These two men have a lengthy past with John Cena, which could see him play a pivotal role in the main event of Mania.

As the host of “The Showcase of the Immortals,” Cena could place himself in the role of special guest referee for the World Heavyweight Championship match.

Cena being placed as the special guest referee of Reigns and Punk would allow him to call things down the middle and determine who is the better man between two of the best that WWE has to offer.

1. Being Confronted & Intimidated By GUNTHER

At the December 13 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, GUNTHER defeated John Cena in the final match of his career.

Since then, GUNTHER has earned the moniker of “The Career Killer” after this win over Cena and also retiring two other legends in Goldberg and AJ Styles.

GUNTHER will now face Seth Rollins in a singles showdown on the WWE WrestleMania 42 card.

While he will be busy with Rollins, GUNTHER could also come out to confront and intimidate Cena as the host of Mania, giving them a chance to put a bow on the lingering issues from the way their previous match ended.
