The November 17 edition of WWE Raw will serve as the final appearance on the show for John Cena in his in-ring career.
The record-breaking 17-time WWE World Champion will be the focal point of tonight’s program taking place from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
This last-ever WWE Raw for Cena could feature any number of plans from defending his Intercontinental Championship to facing a debuting talent coming to the main roster.
Here are six potential plans for John Cena’s last ever WWE Raw.
6. Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge

On the November 10 episode of WWE Raw, John Cena returned to Boston for one final time before his retirement from in-ring competition.
Following a disrespectful interruption, Cena went on to defeat Dominik Mysterio to win the Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his career.
With only one final WWE TV appearance remaining for the legend, Cena defending the Intercontinental Championship on the November 17 Raw should be an intriguing element of the broadcast.
Bringing back his US Open Challenge, this time for his newly won IC Title, Cena could face anyone on the WWE roster from Raw, SmackDown or NXT.

5. Rey Mysterio Redemption Match

Back in 2011, Rey Mysterio won the WWE Championship for the first time by winning a two-week tournament for the gold.
On the same night as his victory, John Cena challenged and defeated Mysterio to capture the title, making his reign very abrupt.
After John Cena defeated Rey’s son Dominik Mysterio to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, it was Rey who congratulated Cena on his victory and for beating respect into the disrespectful young star.
If John Cena holds an open challenge for the IC Title, it could be Rey Mysterio who answers and gives himself a shot at redemption before the newly christened Grand Slam Champion retires from in-ring competition.

4. Joining Commentary For The Last Time Is Now Tournament Matches

While John Cena has been advertised to compete inside the squared circle on the November 17 WWE Raw, he could be scheduled for more than that on the show.
The Last Time Is Now Tournament is currently ongoing and will continue on the broadcast taking place from Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Scheduled for tonight’s episode, GUNTHER will return to face WWE NXT’s Je’Von Evans, while Solo Sikoa will battle a mystery opponent in the tournament.
Considering there are two high profile bouts in the tournament to determine his final opponent on the December 13 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on the show, Cena could also join commentary for these contests on the broadcast from NYC.

3. Time Is Now For Trick Williams

Back in 2023, Trick Williams was feeling anxious about his future and being Carmelo Hayes’ sidekick.
Looking to gain some guidance from an all-time great, Williams approached John Cena on an episode of WWE NXT and asked him when he knew that his time was now.
This advice from Cena led to Trick’s ascension up the ladder to where he became a two-time NXT Champion and TNA World Champion as well.
With a possible Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge on the horizon, Cena could face Trick Williams making his WWE main roster debut in a high profile bout on Monday Night Raw.

2. Facing The Debuting Oba Femi

Theres’s more than one WWE NXT star who feels more than ready for the main roster limelight very soon.
After losing the NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at WWE NXT No Mercy 2025, Oba Femi took two months off of the company’s programming before returning on the November 11 episode of NXT.
It feels like Femi is more than prepared to make the move up to Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown in the coming weeks and months.
Despite his recent NXT return, Oba Femi could make the transition to the WWE main roster by answering John Cena’s Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge and dethroning the legend in MSG.

1. Going For Number 18 Against CM Punk For The World Heavyweight Championship

Earlier this year, John Cena defeated CM Punk to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions 2025.
This match took place during the much maligned Cena heel run during this retirement tour and saw the legend cheat to get the victory.
After beating Jey Uso to win the World Heavyweight Championship at the November 1 WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Punk issued a challenge to anyone on the roster, including Cena for one final match.
Cena could go for world title reign number 18 against Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship in a massive TV match on the November 17 WWE Raw.
