With reports that music sensation Jelly Roll could be hitting the ring this year at the first-ever two night WWE SummerSlam, he needs an opponent.

Whether it ends up being a singles or tag team bout, it’ll be his first ever match, so the choice of opponent is a very important one.

Here are seven potential WWE SummerSlam 2025 opponents for Jelly Roll.

7. El Grande Americano

Despite Chad Gable’s injury, the El Grande Americano character is still present on WWE TV, with Ludwig Kaiser now playing that role.

An easy heel to dislike, a match against Americano could be a good way to make sure fans get behind Jelly Roll for his debut match.

Having American Made on hand to support Americano with continued confusion could also be a nice touch – or even to show cracks in the alliance if American Made actually helped Jelly Roll.

Plus, Ludwig Kaiser has proven to be as polished and professional as anyone on the roster in terms of getting a good enough match out of Jelly Roll if there are any concerns about him in the ring.

6. The New Day

Since the New Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods remain in mourning after losing the World Tag Team Championship to Judgment Day, they could be the perfect foil for Jelly Roll.

Already deeply hated heels, the fans would obviously be able to get behind Jelly Roll in the tag team bout.

Since Jelly Roll partnered with Awesome Truth last year to take out A-Town Down Under at SummerSlam, it could be that he’s able to recruit R-Truth or The Miz to link back up this year.

Veterans in the ring and able to easily make adjustments if necessary, The New Day would be the perfect pair to make sure things went smoothly during the segment.

5. The Miz

It was recently revealed that The Miz could be returning to WWE sooner rather than later since filming has wrapped on the reboot of American Gladiators.

While The Miz could partner with Jelly Roll if there is set to be a tag team bout, he could also make a good opponent as well.

With veteran in-ring skills and demonstrated ability to change directions on the fly when things go awry – such as the WrestleMania 39 moment where Miz and Snoop Dogg improvised the ending to a segment after Shane McMahon was injured – Jelly Roll would be in great hands with The Miz.

Definitely able to put on a good show, the two could have a lot of fun while also creating SummerSlam moment to remember.

4. DIY

Speaking of veterans, the DIY pair of Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa could be a solid fit for a tag team bout featuring Jelly Roll partnering with another WWE star.

While the duo remain hot on the trail of the current WWE Tag Team Champions the Street Profits, there are a good number of other teams also in the hunt for those titles.

Instead, the group – which also includes Candice LeRae – could choose to branch off into a feud with Jelly Roll, leading to the true purpose of this match-up…

Jelly Roll gets adopted by the Wyatt Sicks as an honorary member, teaming with any or all of them to have an iconic Southern Gothic match made in heaven or hell.

3. Grayson Waller

While it certainly seems as though the pairing of A-Town Down Under will be collapsing at some point soon, it could even happen before SummerSlam.

If Jelly Roll were to team with Austin Theory to take on his former tag team partner Waller and presumably another heel, it could be a nice storyline moment – since it was Theory and Waller who had gotten in the crosshairs of Jelly Roll last SummerSlam.

Waller has already taken to social media to reference what happened last year, so it appears to be on his mind.

Hard launching a babyface Theory with the support of a beloved celebrity among the WWE fanbase could have a positive impact on his overall trajectory.

2. Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed)

An alternative use of El Grande Americano would be to have the luchador partner with Jelly Roll to take on the Creed Brothers.

Since it seems as though Brutus and Julius Creed continue to doubt El Grande Americano – and the fact that Ludwig Kaiser has now taken over from American Made leader Chad Gable – perhaps he could smack some sense into them with the help of Jelly Roll.

Highly athletic but also wildly entertaining, it would be enjoyable to see Julius but particularly Brutus continue to show off his comedic skills with taking a wild series of moves from Jelly Roll.

In the end, it could lead to the Creeds coming to respect this version of Americano – and also be a ton of fun for Jelly Roll.

1. GUNTHER

As a known friend of Pat McAfee, Jelly Roll obviously would have no love lost for GUNTHER.

Another wildly popular WWE star that has beef with GUNTHER? Jey Uso.

The tag team of Jey Uso and Jelly Roll (Jellyeet? Yeet Roll?) could be an injection of fun and excitement for the first-ever two night WWE SummerSlam.

Whether GUNTHER would have a tag team partner or if he would assume this would be simple work and take a handicap match – it would still be a fun bout all around.
