Jacob Fatu Mystery WWE Attacker

Share

WWE's Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu

After a few months away, Jacob Fatu made his return to WWE television on tonight’s SmackDown show, where he played a factor in the WWE Championship main event.

Jacob was written off WWE television back in October due to him suffering an injury, which led to him being attacked backstage by a mystery assailant.

With Jacob now back in the fold, he will no doubt be on the hunt for the identity of the man who laid him out.

Here are some potential candidates for who attacked Jacob Fatu.

Drew McIntyre

The obvious answer is usually the one that makes the most sense, and that would be that Jacob was taken out by Drew McIntyre.

Jacob made his return targeting Drew in the Three Stages of Hell main event of SmackDown, seemingly implying that McIntyre was the man that took him out.

However, Drew would end up benefitting from Jacob’s return, when Jacob would end up fighting with Cody Rhodes as well.

With Drew being the obvious option, perhaps the real answer lies a little deeper…

Cody Rhodes

When Jacob was first attacked on SmackDown, Drew McIntyre made sure to note that he wasn’t the attacker, and that may well turn out to be true.

Jacob had teased potentially challenging for Cody prior to him being taken out, with a match between Drew and Jacob set to take place to determine Cody’s next challenger.

However, the match never ended up happening and Cody immediately gave a title match to Drew instead, which would no doubt infuriate Jacob.

With the two men brawling and Jacob costing Cody the WWE Title, there is for sure some bad blood there.

Jimmy Uso

While Drew McIntyre made sure to clear his name following the attack on Jacob, he would end up slinging mud at Jimmy Uso’s name.

Drew said that Jimmy was envious of Jacob and the rest of his Bloodline being more successful than him, and that Jimmy was looking for a big moment to make a name for himself.

Drew McIntyre, while being a heel, has remained a very honest character, so if he made sure to point the finger at Jimmy, there may well be smoke to the fire.

Jey Uso

For a number of months now, WWE has been teasing a heel turn for Jey Uso following his failure to regain the World Heavyweight Championship.

In the short term, it led to some success, with he and Jimmy recapturing Tag Team Championship gold for the first time in almost three years.

However, if Jimmy ends up being revealed as the attacker of Jacob, the teases for Jey’s turn could also factor into things, with the Usos both turning heel to fend off their cousin.

The Vision

WWE stars Bron Breakker and Jacob Fatu

Before Jacob Fatu’s injury, he was slated for a role in the War Games match at WWE Survivor Series, teaming with the babyface team against the Vision.

As such, it would make sense that the attack could have been orchestrated by the Vision, initially as a way to set up tensions between Jacob and the group for War Games.

In 2024, a staredown took place between Bron Breakker and Jacob Fatu, when both men were fresh on the main roster, and the crowd went crazy for it.

A clash between the two men would certainly be big time.

Damian Priest

Jacob Fatu and Damian Priest have crossed paths during their time on SmackDown, but the two men have yet to have a singles match.

Priest recently picked up the victory against Aleister Black in an Ambulance match, ending a long feud between the two men.

Priest looked to take aim at the WWE Championship on tonight’s SmackDown, but as a character on SmackDown he feels like he could use a big refresh to kick off 2026.

A heel turn and feud with Jacob could be exactly what Priest needs to get back on track.

Randy Orton

Outside of Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre, the name most people have begun to suspect as Jacob Fatu’s attacker is Randy Orton.

Orton has been teasing a match with Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship ever since Cody won the belt initially back at WrestleMania 40.

Randy taking Jacob out because he wanted nobody else getting in the way of a potential clash between he and Cody could be the motivation Orton had to wipe out Fatu.

One thing is for sure, with Jacob Fatu back in the fold, nobody on SmackDown is safe.
