With rumors that WWE legend Goldberg is set for an imminent return to in-ring action for a final retirement match, his opponent is unknown.

While his in-ring return hasn’t been officially announced by WWE, Goldberg has revealed that he will be wrestling his last match in WWE and sometime soon.

Here are five potential final WWE opponents for Goldberg.

5. Bron Breakker

Given their shared Georgia roots, one might make the leap that Bron Breakker could be in the running to be Goldberg’s last opponent in WWE.

From Breakker’s Goldberg tattoo to their shared use of the Spear finishing move, there are a lot of details that could be pulled together to make this rivalry feel very authentic.

Putting over a young star like Bron Breakker as a potential motivating force to further establish himself in the top of the main roster picture by defeating Goldberg would be a very traditional ending to a veteran’s career.

Already affiliated with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman, being the one to retire Goldberg would add more more accomplishment to Bron Breakker’s growing list of successes in WWE.

4. Karrion Kross

In his news making comments after WWE WrestleMania 41, Karrion Kross specifically told a story regarding an interaction that he had with Bill Goldberg.

Noting that Goldberg had been encouraging to Kross, he also shared that Goldberg’s sage wisdom was “to be a good soldier”.

Seemingly setting the stage for a potential interaction between the two on-screen, it certainly does not seem that Karrion Kross is looking to slow down anytime soon.

Working as a methodical manipulator backstage, it would be iconic to see Kross be the one to topple Goldberg during his final appearances in the company.

3. John Cena

One seemingly obvious choice would be to have two retirement runs intersect to build towards the first-time ever Goldberg vs. John Cena as also – the only and last time.

The presence of both major names going head-to-head would certainly gain a lot of mainstream media attention and possibly attracting even more curious viewers.

Even leaving room for a little bit of a Final Boss appearance, having Goldberg and Cena face-off at least once would make complete sense but it doesn’t appear to be in the plans.

With Cena already occupied with CM Punk heading into WWE Night of Champions at the end of June and down to even fewer future appearances, we’ll have to stay tuned to find out if there is any interaction between Cena and Goldberg.

2. Logan Paul

With the surplus of attention that Goldberg’s last match is likely to garner – it could be a wise move to book Goldberg’s final match against Logan Paul.

Pairing these two could mean there was ample opportunity to rehearse the match in excess to make sure everything went off without a hitch – something that would be trickier with a full-time active WWE star.

Pitting Goldberg against Logan Paul also gets rid of the pesky problem of the crowd turning on the veteran star as they would presumably not side with the much hated Logan Paul over the returning legend as could happen if Goldberg is to face GUNTHER.

Continuing to build Logan Paul as a viable heel threat to any top star in WWE would be certainly bolstered when he could brag endlessly about retiring Goldberg.

1. Rusev

Since returning to WWE, Rusev has made his perspective clear – he has returned to engage in unadulterated violence.

Given that he is seemingly in search of a major rival to cement his latest character iteration in WWE as a true force – perhaps being Goldberg’s final opponent would be perfect.

Assuming that Goldberg’s last match is set to occur this Summer – with some reports even suggesting possibly as soon as Saturday Night’s Main Event on July 12 –

There is a bit of random history that could be pulled together in that Goldberg definitely laid out Rusev on the Halloween 2016 episode of WWE Raw that saw Goldberg call out Brock Lesnar – but instead get Rusev.

GUNTHER

Despite the rest of the possibilities on this list, it seems as though Goldberg is likely set to square-off against GUNTHER for his final bout.

With GUNTHER already having notably insulted the legend in Atlanta at WWE Bad Blood 2024 – the groundwork for the feud has certainly already been laid.

While Saturday Night’s Main Event from Atlanta is set to air on July 12 – seemingly going up against AEW All In Texas – it could very well be that GUNTHER vs. Goldberg is coming sooner rather than later.

Recent reports have suggested that not only is Goldberg potentially appearing on the upcoming June 16 edition of WWE Raw – he may be there to confront the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER face-to-face.
