From the black and gold to the 2.0. era, there are many stars across the wrestling world who made their mark in WWE NXT.
While many former WWE stars won championships and achieved great things in NXT before departing, others left with still plenty to achieve on the brand.
Here are five former WWE stars that could make a return to WWE NXT.
5. Tyler Breeze
A fan favorite from the past that could hopefully make a return to NXT TV is Tyler Breeze.
While Tyler Breeze is signed to WWE as both a writer in NXT and on key part of the UpUpDownDown gaming channel – he has never ruled out an in-ring return.
Still competing periodically in independent matches – sometimes with beloved NXT tag team partner Fandango – it would be iconic to see the former NXT staple return for more than a one-off appearance.
With the potential that the Hardy Boyz (Matt and Jeff Hardy) could be making a return run in WWE, it would be a fun surprise to see them face off against Breezango on TV.

4. Ash by Elegance
While she may be one half of the TNA Wrestling women’s Tag Team Champions right now, Ash by Elegance had a long history in WWE.
Formerly known as Dana Brooke during her time in WWE and on NXT, it could be incredibly fun to see the star make a return to NXT.
While she has made a one off appearance on the brand since departing the company, a proper program could also provide a boost to her potential opponents.
With the crossovers between WWE and TNA Wrestling continuing, perhaps this thought isn’t far off!

3. Jinder Mahal
With Oba Femi continuing his reign as NXT Champion, perhaps there will be outside competition attempting to take the title?
One solid contender could be the former WWE Champion, Jinder Mahal.
Finding a whole new chapter to his career after transitioning to the independent scene, Raj Dhesi could make a big return in NXT.
Continuing to compete in promotions like MLP and GCW, it would make total sense for Dhesi to be back on WWE TV one day, with NXT arguably a more fitting home for him at this stage of his career than the main roster.

2. Sareee
Having last competed in NXT back in August 2022, Sareee (fka Sarray) has continued her successful wrestling career back in Japan.
While it isn’t likely that Sareee would re-sign with WWE for a long-term contract right now, the upcoming Evolution 2 leaves an important opportunity.
Previously having been the one to defeat Giulia to become the first ever Marigold World Champion in Japan, perhaps these two could be headed for a clash again – this time in WWE.
With a unique event like Evolution 2, there could be some attempt to incorporate past NXT stars to showcase women’s wrestling as a whole.

1. Mustafa Ali
After fans saw a dissatisfying ending to Mustafa Ali’s run in WWE – particularly with his release occurring right before scheduled NXT North American Championship opportunity at NXT No Mercy 2023.
Currently in TNA Wrestling and leading up a faction, Ali is signed with the company for the foreseeable future.
However, due to the continued partnership between TNA Wrestling and WWE – it seems possible that Mustafa Ali could one day reappear on NXT.
Seeing Ali finally get that North American Title shot he’s owed would be a great way to tie a bow on his WWE tenure, for now at least.
