There could be some very big names coming up as the next former AEW stars to not re-sign and go to WWE instead.

After the likes of former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May (now known as Blake Monroe) and former AEW World Tag Team Champion Ricky Starks (now Ricky Saints) have signed with WWE, others could be set to follow suit.

Here are six former AEW Champions who could sign with WWE.

6. Chris Jericho

The conspicuous absence of Chris Jericho continues in AEW, becoming ever more intriguing since he has been entirely left out of promotion or appearances surrounding All In Texas.

While there is always a possibility that Jericho could elect to re-sign with AEW at the end of the year, his absence continues to raise eyebrows.

With Jericho having recently commented that he would be open to a WWE return, it could be a matter of time before we see the legend make his WWE return.

Certainly a shoo-in for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame someday, it would make complete sense for Jericho to end his career in the company.

5. Adam Cole

AEW star Adam Cole

While Adam Cole is a current AEW champion – still holding the TNT Championship as he heads into All In Texas – he is another star that WWE may be interesting in recruiting back.

After having a compelling run in NXT, there was never a main roster call-up for Adam Cole as he departed WWE when his contract expired in June 2021, only to pop-up in AEW in September.

Although his time in AEW has been a bit stunted due to injury, the fan favorite has continued to thrill audiences and tell compelling stories.

Now that Triple H is in charge of WWE creative, one would assume that whenever his contract with AEW comes up, Adam Cole would be someone WWE would want to talk to, so it’s just a question of whether the same can be said in the other direction.

4. Paige (Saraya)

Even before she officially departed AEW, fans were already wondering if former Divas Champion Saraya/Paige would be set for a WWE return one day.

Not ruling out a return to her Paige character, the upcoming all-female Evolution 2025 would be a legendary place for her to make a comeback.

The battle royal especially presents the ideal opportunity for surprises, and this definitely seems like one that isn’t impossible.

Noting that a return would be “bittersweet” in that during the first Evolution she couldn’t participate since she had suffered a neck injury – Saraya has said that if the opportunity arises to appear at Evolution 2025, she is open to it.

3. Wardlow

Three-time TNT Champion Wardlow has been absent for quite some time in AEW, although recently a reason has been revealed for at least the last few months.

Wardlow, along with other notable wrestling names like fellow AEW star Kamille and former WWE star Rick Boogs, was cast in the reboot of American Gladiators.

Hosted by The Miz, the show filmed the first two seasons back-to-back but it recently wrapped, and it was reported that while AEW had plans for Wardlow to return in early 2025, instead it was delayed so he didn’t have be taken off TV again for the filming.

Explaining the absence in that way makes sense – but considering the length of time he’s been away from AEW, including many months before Gladiators would even have factored in, there are always going to be questions about whether he’ll return at all, with WWE likely to be interested in him.

2. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

AEW tag team Private Party

Former AEW World Tag Team Champions Private Party haven’t been seen in AEW since they lost their titles to the Hurt Syndicate back in January 2025.

It has recently been reported that the captivating duo may actually be set to see their contracts expire soon, and that there is interest from WWE in the pair.

While NXT is currently in a rebuilding phase in its tag team division, it would make sense to see the brand pick up the duo of Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen.

Able to function as members of a bigger group as well as in tag team action, the duo could be a great addition to NXT for today and the main roster in the future.

1. Anthony Bowens

Anthony Bowens signed with AEW in November 2020 alongside Acclaimed tag team partner Max Caster.

With Bowens having not only been a AEW World Tag Team Champion but also an AEW World Trios Champion during his time with the company, he has recently embarked on a solo endeavor.

Having previous history of WWE interest before signing with Tony Khan, perhaps Bowens could find himself joining the likes of Ricky Saints and Jade Cargill on the WWE roster.
