With his AEW contract expiring at the end of 2025, it seems like all signs are pointing to Chris Jericho making his return to WWE sooner rather than later.
Considering there has been some teases that Jericho could return as soon as the January 5 WWE Raw, fans could find out very soon who will be the legend’s first opponent back in the company.
Here are eight potential Chris Jericho WWE return opponents.
8. Rey Mysterio
There is no one on the WWE roster who has had as lengthy and memorable rivalries with Chris Jericho quite like Rey Mysterio.
With their feud dating back to their days in Extreme Championship Wrestling, Mysterio and Jericho have known each other for years and have clashed numerous times.
Their notable matches against one another has seen Jericho and Mysterio do battle in ECW, WCW and WWE.
If Jericho makes his return, there might not be anyone better suited to clash with him one-on-one upon his comeback more than Mysterio.

7. Penta
Another WWE star that has some history with Chris Jericho is Penta. The two men were day one signings for All Elite Wrestling when the company was created in 2019.
Going back to the first All In event in 2018, Jericho used Penta’s mask and gear as a disguise to attack Kenny Omega.
Despite being in the same company for six years, Jericho and Penta never faced each other in a singles match.
Now that they might be reunited in WWE, it is the right time for Jericho to face off with Penta upon his triumphant return.

6. AJ Styles
Dating back to Chris Jericho’s last stint with WWE, one of the stars he interacted and feuded with was AJ Styles.
First facing off and then forming a brief partnership, Styles’ first rival in WWE upon signing in 2016 was Jericho.
From their short-lived tag team called Y2AJ to facing each other at WrestleMania 32, there are plenty of things to call back to between Styles and Jericho.
Considering that Styles has announced that he plans to retire in 2026, WWE would be wise to have him clash with Jericho one last time when he is back with the company.

5. Logan Paul
Looking at the WWE roster, there might not be a better heel that fits a lot of the characteristics Chris Jericho has become known for more than Logan Paul.
Ever since making his WWE debut, Paul has shown a level of confidence beyond his years and a tremendous amount of athleticism.
With his mainstream status as a social media megastar, Logan Paul could be someone who matches up well with Jericho from a star power and name recognition perspective.
Considering their similar personalities, Jericho and Paul could make for more than ideal rivals with one another in a major way.

4. LA Knight
Another WWE star who has established themselves in the company in the years since Chris Jericho’s last appearance is LA Knight.
Known for his exceptional promos and talking ability, Knight has become one of the most popular stars in WWE today.
Chris Jericho has always been known for his great heel work, especially in the latter half of his career.
If WWE wants to give Jericho one of their top babyfaces to feud with, the company should not look any further than LA Knight.

3. Dominik Mysterio
While Chris Jericho has decades worth of history with Rey Mysterio, the former AEW World Champion has never interacted with his son Dominik in a wrestling ring.
Dominik Mysterio has become one of the biggest stars on the roster today, currently holding both the WWE Intercontinental and AAA Mega Championships.
Holding two titles that Jericho is familiar with, fans could see the legend return and take aim at the younger Mysterio.
Looking to become a record-breaking 10-time IC Champion, Jericho feuding with Dominik Mysterio could create some entertaining segments and lead to a high profile showdown for the gold.

2. GUNTHER
2025 was a career defining year for GUNTHER in many ways with “The Ring General” holding the World Heavyweight Championship twice and picking up key wins.
More than the world title wins, GUNTHER’s year will be truly remembered for him defeating and retiring two all-time greats in John Cena and Goldberg.
Now establishing himself as a career killer, it should set up an inevitable showdown between GUNTHER and the latest returning legend, Chris Jericho.
Jericho coming in as a babyface might be the best use of him upon his return and there is no better heel for him to feud with right now than GUNTHER.

1. CM Punk
If there is anyone on the WWE Raw roster who is no stranger at all to Chris Jericho and his returns, CM Punk would be high on the list.
Jericho and Punk once feuded over the WWE Championship and even faced off for the top prize in the company at WrestleMania 28.
Now more than 13 years since their battles in WWE, both men look to be back in their home promotion after memorable runs with All Elite Wrestling.
Stemming from their backstage animosity during their AEW stints, Jericho and Punk reigniting this rivalry might prove to be the most heated and intense battles anyone has seen in a while.
