While Chris Jericho has been off of AEW TV since April, he could be making a return to the company in the near future.
With speculation swirling that Jericho could exit AEW after his current contract expires in December 2025 – neither AEW nor Jericho have confirmed future plans either way.
Since it is possible that Jericho could still make a return to AEW TV even before an eventual departure, here are five potential AEW return plans for Chris Jericho.
5. Dynamite General Manager
Potentially having given enough space with the audience that he could conceivably be a babyface authority figure, Chris Jericho could return somewhat as an on-screen proxy for Tony Khan.
Undoubtedly able to use his acting chops and comedic improv skills to pull some catchphrases out of the debacles, Jericho could play an interesting parody of all former pro wrestling GMs.
Going through clear eras in his dress and pattern of speech, he could lovingly emulate or lambast a variety of characters throughout professional wrestling history while never actually naming them.
Presented to the audience as Jericho attempting to go on a journey through history in order to get the fans back on his side, he could end up reminding them in the end – he isn’t so bad after all.

4. Target Adam Copeland
If Chris Jericho is returning to AEW, it would make perfect sense for him to do it ahead of AEW All Out Toronto on September 20th.
Or possibly reserved as a surprise to attack after a different match on the night, Chris Jericho could definitely come back to AEW to engage in a feud with Adam Copeland.
Recently reunited with Christian Cage, Cope will have back-up which would leave a spot beside Jericho for potential tag team battles.
With Jericho previously boasting stables that contained Big Bill, Bryan Keith, Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia – he could probably put together an all-star cast to help him take on the legendary duo of Cope & Christian.

3. New EVP
With the Young Bucks out as EVPs on-screen, a brand new on-screen menace could emerge in Christopher Jericho.
With recent speculation regarding his contract status and a potential return to WWE, it would be an iconic swerve for Chris Jericho to instead return to AEW, using the reporting in the storyline.
Able to say that he refused any new contracts from Tony Khan that didn’t include making him an EVP, there could truly be a brand new era of Jericho in AEW.
Possibly able to use his power for good, Jericho could try and make a babyface reinvention… before potentially just turning on any of his allies.

2. The Learning Tree 2.0
It could be that Chris Jericho makes a return to AEW TV and simply resumes his former gimmick.
With his Learning Tree faction members Big Bill and the Bounty Hunter Bryan Keith having continued along without him, it could be an interesting story to see them reunite.
Now with the knowledge that they perhaps didn’t need Jericho anymore, how the duo would respond to the veteran’s return could be pivotal for his character.
If Big Bill and Bryan Keith were able to execute a savage enough heel turn that it would evoke sympathy for Jericho from the audience – it could be a major moment.

1. The Most Final Boss
As one of the foundational members of the original AEW roster, Chris Jericho could consider himself somewhat of the Final Boss of AEW.
One obvious way for Jericho to potential win back the sickos would be to just go full-on WWE satire but even more exaggerated by branding himself AEW‘s Most Final Boss.
With the Jericho Appreciation Society already having sought to glorify sports entertainment, this version could just be a very clearly meant to parody The Rock’s Final Boss characters in WWE.
Popping up to randomly “ruin” a main event, it would be an amusing short-term gimmick that could bring fans back around to finding Jericho more endearing than irritating by pledging his allegiance to the AEW specific audience through comedy.
