WWE stars John Cena and Goldberg making their retirement match goals clear has gotten fans talking about Batista.
While the six-time world champion has gone on to capture major roles in Hollywood since departing WWE – there could still be one more match for The Animal.
Here are six potential final WWE opponents for Batista.
6. The Rock

If Batista wants to wrestle a last match, the storyline motivation doesn’t have to be all that deep.
Since he has commented in the past that he did feel like last match against Triple H at WrestleMania 35 was a fitting finale for his career, if he were to return to the ring, it would likely be more for fun than legacy.
Since The Rock has been known to get back into in-ring action on recent occasion, this match would have Hollywood blockbuster written all over it – which is perhaps reason enough.
Certainly with The Rock’s ‘Final Boss’ heel persona, there could be some way for this pair to have a negative interaction that turned into a massive battle between two of WWE’s biggest mainstream success stories.

5. The Undertaker

Frequently a topic of discussion by fans hoping for one more match, The Undertaker could potentially be another opponent for Batista that fits into dream match category.
After the duo have had legendary meetings in the past, this could be a fun example of a dual retirement match.
With plenty of potential for each legend to be partnered on-screen with emerging stars, there could be another purpose to the showcase if each of them were to bring a protege along to elevate in a tag team match.
Giving both legends of the past the opportunity to mix it up in the ring – but against one another as to not create any clear mismatch in pace – could be a great opportunity to see this iconic showdown re-imagined.

4. Stone Cold Steve Austin

While historically in professional wrestling there has been a tradition of a retiring star potentially making a younger talent look impressive in defeat – it isn’t entirely necessary in modern terms.
Given the broad mainstream appeal that two major names like Batista and Stone Cold Steve Austin could bring to WWE, the contribution of having the two legends on any given show brings eyes to the whole roster.
Recently, Stone Cold Steve Austin noted that he would be open to wrestling in another match someday.
Perhaps marking a landmark meeting of two distinct eras in WWE history, it would be really cool to see a dual last match between the two beloved stars.

3. Cody Rhodes

If there was a generational meeting in mind, Batista taking on Cody Rhodes would continue to propel Rhodes into mainstream stardom.
While he has already been featured in programs with top names Roman Reigns, John Cena and The Rock, adding another Hollywood star to the list certainly wouldn’t hurt.
Batista could easily fall into some sort of Hollywood bad guy role, making his stint in WWE perhaps more creatively interesting than just being a beloved nostalgic name.
Matching up a big star from the past in Batista to a current legend in the making is an iconic story that could be entertaining even without a lot of vitriol.

2. Ric Flair

Ric Flair has claimed that he has already wrestled his last match – but then continually teases that perhaps he would give it another go.
If it were even medically possible to see Ric Flair compete in a final WWE match – one against a major name from his past like Batista would make sense.
In the event it isn’t medically possibly that Ric Flair compete in the ring again, he could still play a massive and unique managerial role for Batista’s last match given their shared Evolution faction history.
Either choosing to accompany Batista or his opponent, perhaps Flair would have one more major on-screen betrayal to be delivered in WWE, if not a match.

1. Randy Orton

While Batista moved along to other projects, Randy Orton has remained a cornerstone character in WWE.
Having been stablemates in the Evolution faction together, this showdown could make sense for a last opponent for Batista, without having a specific hatred filled feud to accompany it.
With both stars fan favorites to the WWE audience at this point, the storyline motivation wouldn’t have to be a lot more significant than a final test of which wrestler was best.
Creating another big moment in Randy Orton’s career, this last match for Batista would no doubt be a battle that fans would still love to see.
