Leaving a vacancy at the top of the card, AEW star Will Ospreay is set for an upcoming absence after Forbidden Door 2025.

While no one is able to replace Will Ospreay’s connection with the AEW audience, there are a few current AEW stars that could capture their imaginations while Ospreay is out of action to have surgery.

Here are six stars that could serve as babyface replacements for Will Ospreay in AEW.

6. Brody King

While he was previously a member of the heelish House of Black, Brody King has since moved on to a new partnership.

Joining forces with Bandido to create a popular tag team, there is still more untapped potential for Brody King.

Definitely able to be re-invented slightly – possibly via some more feuds with top heels like MJF – to completely launch King as a full babyface.

Able to capture the same lovable rebel energy of Will Ospreay, Brody King could definitely move into singles action.

5. Michael Oku

One potential new babyface star from England could be Michael Oku.

Appearing in a trios match at AEW Forbidden Door with Kevin Knight and Speedball Mike Bailey, the London crowd was thrilled to see him.

Bringing along with him his fiancée Amira Blair, while the pair have appeared in AEW in the past it was recently confirmed that while they weren’t signed – but they both have US visas and have been open to working in the states.

Potentially able to continue momentum from Forbidden Door to introduce Oku to a wider AEW audience on TV, there could be more magic from England headed to AEW.

If there is anyone who could conceivably bring the same energy, passion and genuine connection to the audience as Will Ospreay, it could be his real life missus, Alex Windsor.

Recently making a big impact since her arrival in AEW, Windsor’s mic skills have already demonstrated that she is a formidable foe both inside and outside the ring.

With the ability to inspire the same hopeful emotion in the audience as Ospreay, Windsor could easily become the women’s division answer to Ospreay’s absence.

Able to position Windsor to fight for either the AEW Women’s World Championship or the TBS Championship, she could end up having a meteoric rise in her first six months in AEW.

After being taken out of action due to a complex leg injury in May 2024 during a match against Gabe Kidd in NJPW, Eddie Kingston has not made his return to AEW.

Although there has been no confirmation of an impending return for Eddie Kingston, fans continue to await his arrival.

With Kingston able to return as a triumphant babyface, he could easily fulfill the role left behind by Ospreay’s absence.

2. Daniel Garcia

Another babyface who is ready for a big push that may be made possible due to an absence at the top of the card is Daniel Garcia.

With fan support as well as technical prowess, there remains plenty of unfinished emotional business between Garcia and several members of the AEW roster.

Able to align with fan favorite Brit Nigel McGuinness, the pair could go on to have a memorable tag team run – particularly if looking to seek vengeance on the likes of FTR.

Either in singles action or tag team bouts, Garcia has proven himself to be not only reliable but also more than capable.

1. Darby Allin

After being taken out of action in storyline by the Death Riders, Darby Allin has recently returned.

His return comes at a very good time as there could be a gap in babyfaces to challenge for AEW’s top titles.

With Will Ospreay set to be out of action due for surgery, the same may be the case for Swerve Strickland as well as he is currently dealing with a torn meniscus.

Able to return from his summit of Mount Everest as a hero and solid babyface, Darby Allin will be able to get the same high level of fan support that Ospreay experiences.
