After losing the AEW World Championship to Hangman Adam Page at AEW All In Texas, Jon Moxley hasn’t slowed down.
Still enacting dastardly deeds in AEW, Moxley took things even further during a bloody and brutal steel cage match at AEW Forbidden Door including taking a fork to Darby Allin’s ear.
With a next generation of truly dastardly heels needed for any promotion, here are seven potential replacements for Jon Moxley as the biggest heel in AEW.
7. Eddie Kingston

Since he has been out of action since May 2024, AEW fans have been patiently awaiting the return of Eddie Kingston.
With Kingston’s no non-sense style and brash nature already beloved by fans – it could be that upon his return, his character takes a different direction.
Certainly understandable given the complexity of his injury and time away from the sport he loves, perhaps Kingston’s long recovery could be interwoven into a storyline of him slowly losing reality.
Able to have a triumphant return before ultimately breaking hearts of AEW fans everywhere, Eddie Kingston could be the best replacement for Jon Moxley.

6. Kyle Fletcher

One potential next in line to be the biggest heel in AEW is current TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher.
After joining forces with the known evil entity Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher has taken his dastardly heel persona to staggering new heights.
Definitely activating a more vicious and violent iteration of Fletcher’s in-ring style, the shift has also marked a re-invention of his character into a menacing force.
Able to capture fans’ ire quite effortlessly, Fletcher gives the crowd a lot of reasons to root against him – making the emotional impact of his wins cement his heel status even more.

5. Bobby Lashley

While the Hurt Syndicate remains popular with fans but that could change given their recent loss.
After losing the AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW All In Texas, the title loss wasn’t because either Bobby Lashley nor Shelton Benjamin got pinned or submitted – rather through being pulled away from the triple-threat bout entirely.
Able to show off a much more evil side – Lashley may be simply waiting for the opportunity to strike.
Creating a character defining feud with the likes of an AEW favorite like Orange Cassidy may be the route that Tony Khan takes to make a monster heel out of Bobby Lashley in AEW.

4. Jay White

One big name in AEW remains out of action due to injury is Jay White.
After initially breaking his hand during a match back in March on Collision, the original injury is resolved but he is not cleared for an in-ring return related to an ongoing shoulder issue.
While White could remain out of action for awhile longer depending on how his rehabilitation process goes, when he does return he would definitely be able to assume the role as the most evil man in AEW.
Previously demonstrating his ability to deliver as a top heel as he was presented in NJPW, Switchblade Jay White certainly may have some scores to settle upon his return.

3. Claudio Castagnoli

Perhaps the successor to Moxley’s reign of terror over AEW is already in the Death Riders – Claudio Castagnoli.
While he has held the ROH World Championship two times, Castagnoli has never won singles gold in AEW.
Potentially looking to have a singles rise to power of his own, Castagnoli could use all of the dirty tricks at his disposal from the Death Riders to ensure his success.
Bringing together a storyline where there was a next in line top heel in AEW already waiting in the Death Riders could be an easy way to direct the faction’s attention to a new target.

2. MJF

MJF may continue to be positioned as a heel but the AEW audience doesn’t truly despise him.
Since Hangman Adam Page has effectively assumed the role as main character of AEW – it would make complete sense that MJF will stop at nothing to change that.
Not only on a quest to reclaim his AEW World Championship, MJF might end up finding on himself on the most dastardly path possible to get to Page.
Since Swerve Strickland already targeted Page’s baby – perhaps Hangman’s wife will be the one to have a terrifying encounter with MJF.

1. Ricochet

Someone who has been a bit of an ally to MJF as of late is Ricochet.
It was Ricochet and the Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona) that held Mark Briscoe captive in order for MJF to get demands about his AEW Forbidden Door match against Hangman met.
Also at Forbidden Door, it was Ricochet, Kaun and Liona who managed to attack the Hurt Syndicate and pull them away from their own title defense.
Paving the way for new champs in Brodido (Brody King and Bandido), Ricochet is seemingly working in support of MJF but could eventually decide to turn on him as well to become the biggest bad guy in AEW.
