9 New WWE Signings To Be Drafted In ‘Transfer Window’

In an exciting change to WWE’s typical draft format, the newly announced transfer window carries many possibilities.

While the ongoing speculation of which stars will change brands obviously pertains to stars contracted to WWE, there is also the possibility we could see new signings make their debuts in the company via the shake-up.

Here are nine new WWE signings to be drafted in the upcoming transfer window.

9. Penta El Zero Miedo

AEW star Penta El Zero Miedo

Having been officially removed from the AEW roster this week, Penta El Zero Miedo wasted little time as a free agent by appearing immediately for AAA back in his native Mexico.

While Penta can now enjoy his new found freedom, it may be short lived as reports have long suggested that he and his brother Rey Fenix are WWE bound.

Fenix having injury time added on to his AEW contract may have delayed Penta’s WWE debut however, but there is always the chance that WWE brings him in early with Fenix debuting at a later date.

Whether on the main roster or NXT, Penta is someone who can offer a lot as a singles star, even if WWE’s preferred goal was to have the Lucha Bros both in the company imminently.

8. Jordynne Grace

It’s not yet known just how long WWE’s transfer window will last for, but with it being reported that WWE would loosen up their brand split around the time of Raw’s Netflix move in January, one would expect it’ll be a month or two until everyone’s settled in their new home.

If January still sees the transfer window being open, then we could see former TNA Wrestling Knockout’s Champion Jordynne Grace become one of NXT’s big picks.

Grace has flirted with a move to WWE throughout 2024, having made a significant impression ever since her surprise entry into the 2024 women’s Royal Rumble match.

The Juggernaut is out of contract with TNA in January and unless a new deal is agreed soon, a permanent WWE move may be on the cards in early 2025.

7. Lance Anoa’i

Unlike our first two entries Lance Anoa’i is someone already signed with WWE, but has yet to make his debut on TV.

While injury has reportedly delayed plans, the ongoing storyline involving NXT General Manager Ava and Eddy Thorpe has had speculation rampant regarding an impending debut.

Whether that happens or not, Anoa’i is someone who could be hyped up as a free agent in the transfer window and someone who all three brands can look to sign.

NXT is still probably the best place for him to begin with, but with his Bloodline affiliation a move to SmackDown instead could immediately push him high up in the company.

6. Hikuleo

WWE star Hikuleo in NJPW

Speaking of new signings that are yet to debut, former NJPW star Hikuleo has reportedly been under WWE contract since July but there has not yet been any sign of the giant star as of yet.

While initial rumors expectedly linked Hikuleo to join Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline, more recent reports suggested he would be debuting in NXT instead.

Again, much like Lance Anoa’i, Hikuleo is another name linked to being Eddy Thorpe’s attacker on last week’s NXT.

That would obviously be an impactful way to debut the former IWGP Tag Team Champion, however, WWE may instead throw him into the transfer window, allowing for Solo Sikoa to specifically request his move to SmackDown to General Manager Nick Aldis.

5. Dustin Rhodes

AEW star Dustin Rhodes

Despite holding two different ROH championship belts at present, Dustin Rhodes is reportedly working without a contract in AEW at present.

While Rhodes has been vocal in his commitment to Tony Khan’s company, the longer time passes without news of a contract extension, the more speculation will heighten that The Natural could be exiting the company.

Rhodes returning to WWE is something many fans have been crying out for ever since his brother Cody rejoined in 2022, especially throughout The American Nightmare’s lengthy feud with The Bloodline.

If Rhodes does exit AEW, and while the transfer window is open we could see a dramatic reunion between the Rhodes brothers on SmackDown or Raw.

4. Jonathan Gresham

Speaking of expiring contracts, former ROH World Champion Jonathan Gresham is another that is seeming likely to join the free agent list in January 2025, upon the expiration of his deal with TNA Wrestling.

While there is still a month remaining to agree new terms, the closer it gets to January the more speculation will increase regarding a departure, much like his wife Jordynne Grace.

With WWE reportedly holding interest in Grace, perhaps we could see Gresham follow suit and join the company and NXT specifically in the transfer window.

WWE’s working relationship with TNA could perhaps lead to WWE advertising it as a direct acquisition from the promotion, increasing the excitement that anything can happen in the transfer window.

3. Josh Alexander

Like Jonathan Gresham and Jordynne Grace, Josh Alexander is another star with an expiring TNA Wrestling contract.

The Walking Weapon may have an additional month to wait until free agency, but out of the three it is arguably the most likely that Alexander departs TNA.

The former TNA World Champion already had a one year extension on his deal picked up in 2024, and with him recently announcing his retirement from the independent scene it seems increasingly likely we see Alexander show up in either WWE or AEW.

Alexander’s mid-February contract expiration may prove to be too late to be classed a transfer window WWE signing, but until we know the exact dates for the trade period it can’t be ruled out either.

2. Miro

AEW and former WWE star Miro

Despite reportedly requesting his release from the company in September, Miro is still under AEW contract at the time of writing.

If The Redeemer had been used on AEW TV at all in 2024 fans may not be as eager to see him move elsewhere, however, with his continued absence it’s hard not to want to see him utilised in a different company and WWE could once again be a potential new home.

Given that we don’t know the reasons for Miro’s lack of activity, it can’t be said for certain where the blame lies or whether Miro would even be interested in a return to WWE should he get his release.

If that request does get granted however, there will no doubt be intense speculation that we could see Rusev make a dramatic return, making an impact on Raw, NXT or SmackDown.

1. Becky Lynch

WWE star Becky Lynch

From one uncertain return, to another that is almost 100% nailed on. After being pictured at the WWE media event at Netflix HQ on December 3 it seems extremely likely that The Man Becky Lynch will re-sign with the company.

While her profile was never removed from the active WWE roster page, Lynch has technically been a free agent since June.

So if Lynch is to make a WWE return she would technically be a new signing for the company, and the transfer window would be the perfect time for this to be announced.

Given her presence at the Netflix event and unfinished business with both Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley, it seems likely we see Lynch once again sign on the dotted line with Raw on the January 6 premiere.
