With WWE kicking off a busy summer, there is plenty of time for some characters to be shifted in order to create new storylines.
From stars who could benefit from a slight refresh to others who could use a much bigger overhaul, there are some intriguing possibilities.
Here are eight WWE stars that could benefit from being repackaged.
8. Pete Dunne

Let’s see Pete Dunne get a legitimate run at a title on the WWE main roster, shall we?
That could be tag team gold alongside his New Catch Republic partner Tyler Bate, or a move back to the singles division.
Dunne’s in-ring ability and storytelling capacity could really be used to create a particularly menacing heel persona, or a babyface underdog that fans want to root for.
Being a flexible performer, Dunne’s goals appear to at times get lost in his own adaptability. His dedication and loyalty could definitely be used as character motivation, either as a babyface or a heel.

7. Jimmy Uso

With the Bloodline scattered amongst the OG group and the newest version of the faction, Jimmy Uso is one that hasn’t had a storyline catch fire yet.
Perhaps poised for a return to action alongside Jey Uso, there is also a case to be made for Jimmy to actually go on his own journey.
With multiple Bloodline members signed but yet to be revealed on screen like Lance Anoa’i and Hikuleo, perhaps he leads his own new sub-faction.
Potentially re-aligning with Roman Reigns upon the Tribal Chief’s return, Jimmy should at least have a change of attire or presentation to give him some notable progression or he runs the risk of looking totally left behind.

6. Dragon Lee

While Dragon Lee delighted audiences in NXT, his current main roster run has failed to take flight in terms of singles successes.
Since Rey Mysterio remains out of action due to injury, there will be a slightly different variation of LWO competing at Worlds Collide against AAA’s Iguana, Aero Star and Octagon.
After being knocked out during a match against Lexis King, LWO member Joaquin Wilde was replaced by Lince Dorado set to team with Dragon Lee and Cruz Del Toro.
Giving Dragon Lee a unique opportunity to possibly turn heel against his fellow WWE stars and reunite with talent from AAA, it seems like Worlds Collide could be a great time to make a change.

5. Alba Fyre

Alba Fyre could definitely use a refresh, despite the fact that her current iteration is still very much working.
After her former Unholy Union tag team partner Isla Dawn was released from WWE, Fyre joined Piper Niven as a support for Chelsea Green, creating the Secret Hervice.
Since Green has lost the United States Championship, the trio remains a group, but Fyre could perhaps return to her former darker persona from NXT, even by turning on Green or Niven in a vicious way.
Potentially aligning with another woman in pursuit of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, the former NXT UK Women’s Champion could be a viable singles contender as well.

4. Pretty Deadly

One WWE SmackDown tag team that could benefit from a slight refresh in their overall presentation would be Pretty Deadly.
While the overall gimmick from Elton Prince and Kit Wilson should not by any means disappear, they could use a repackage in terms of how they’re presented.
Even though their flamboyance was persistent in NXT, their in-ring work was able to give a balance of violence which has been absent on the main roster.
Perhaps returning for a feud with a set of formidable opponents that underestimate their abilities, Pretty Deadly could demonstrate that they can in fact be both pretty and deadly.

3. Asuka

After being out of action in WWE since May 2024, Asuka is reportedly set for a return sometime in the near future.
Since there has been such a long break since audiences saw her, it may be the perfect time for a refresh.
Perhaps adopting a more vicious style that has been teased in the past, Asuka could even find new allies to team against her former Damage CTRL partners IYO SKY and Kairi Sane.
Given that fans have been patiently awaiting her return, there seems to be a great chance to capitalize on maximum emotion in either direction!

2. Austin Theory

There has been a breakup being teased between A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory & Grayson Waller) for quite some time, but it finally seems like it could be happening.
With the New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) hyping up Waller about needing to cut ties with Austin Theory, it seems as though perhaps the actual split could finally be happening.
Definitely in need of the split to lead to a new version of himself to emerge, Austin Theory could be poised to have a big summer.
With the incredibly unique opportunity of John Cena being a heel, perhaps Theory could finally be launched as a babyface that fans actually get behind.

1. Ilja Dragunov

Potentially set for a return sometime in the near future, Ilja Dragunov has been off of WWE TV since September.
In the appearances ahead of the injury, he was positioned as a potential babyface rival for GUNTHER.
While that would definitely still be one possible direction, another would be to have him return as first an ally to GUNTHER – repositioning himself as a violent and frightening force – then he can turn babyface if need be in the future to take on the Ring General.
With probably more compelling feuds on the horizon if he were to return as a heel rather than a babyface, Dragunov’s impressive in-ring skills make him a fan favorite regardless of his character’s leanings.
