With WWE SummerSlam 2025 set for this weekend, there could be some massive character shifts by the time the dust settles on the two-night event.
From returning stars, to established ones that are looking to shift their character ahead of the reported 2025 WWE Draft – there are some interesting possibilities for the event.
Here are eight potential heel turns at WWE SummerSlam 2025.
8. Bianca Belair

A perfect bow on the past year of storytelling for the women’s division across SmackDown and Raw would be a heel turn from Bianca Belair.
With Tiffany Stratton set to face off against Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Championship on Night One – Belair could return there to interfere and either cost Cargill the win or attack her after the match to ruin her first singles championship celebration.
Belair’s heel turn could also be reserved for Night Two when Naomi faces off against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY for the WWE Women’s World Championship.
With Belair known to deliver character driven and emotional moments – if she were to turn heel and align with the new evil Naomi it would make for an unforgettable moment.

7. Ilja Dragunov

A potential return, that could also double as a heel turn could be former NXT Champion, Ilja Dragunov.
Ilja Dragunov was primarily poised to go against GUNTHER before his departure from TV back in November due to an injury.
However after rehabbing a torn ACL, it has been reported that “The Mad Dragon” could be close to making an in-ring return.
Potentially popping up to cost CM Punk his World Championship match against GUNTHER, Dragunov could make a big impact on one of the biggest matches on Night One.

6. Rhea Ripley

In another intriguing possibility, the WWE Women’s World Championship match could unlock the more dastardly iteration of Rhea Ripley.
While her overwhelming popularity has made her a babyface over the past few years in WWE – Rhea Ripley, the character, has lost a bit of her vicious and violent edge.
Perhaps poised to reclaim her status as being ruthless in her pursuit of success, Ripley could find herself turning heel at SummerSlam.
Potentially resurrecting a more frightening version of Rhea Ripley, the character shift would make complete sense moving forward – kicking up new storylines ahead of the potential 2025 WWE Draft.

5. Tama Tonga

After being written off TV ahead of WrestleMania 41 due to a legitimate injury, there has been continued speculation regarding the potential return of Tama Tonga.
If he were to return at SummerSlam – there would be a major moment of question for the audience as it would be revealed which side of the latest Bloodline battle he falls.
While it seems slightly more likely that Tama Tonga would return to action and align with Solo Sikoa – it is vaguely possible that he could turn heel and link up with Jacob Fatu given their own past connection.
A bit of a clue may lie in the merchandise recently released on WWE Shop – with the MFT (My Family Tree) faction merch featuring Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tala Tonga and Tonga Loa’s faces on a t-shirt – so perhaps Tama Tonga will end up with Fatu after all, or perhaps Mama’s return is further away than fans think.

4. Alexa Bliss

Months after making a big return in the Royal Rumble 2025, Alexa Bliss formed an unlikely alliance with Charlotte Flair that has been gaining audience traction.
Although the pairing of Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair has been fun for fans – and seemingly the duo themselves – it is possible it could be coming to an end should they fail to dethrone Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
With Alexa Bliss’ true intentions still not revealed, it would make sense to see the star turn on Flair and lead into a program between the pair.
Adding the bonus layer of flying in the face of everything the Wyatt Sicks stands for – Bliss turning on Flair after earning her trust would be a fascinating reason for the group to take notice of her.

3. Andrade

On Night Two of the first-ever two night SummerSlam, Andrade is set to team with Rey Fenix in a big Tables, Ladders & Chairs match for the WWE Tag Team Championship against the champs the Wyatt Sicks as well as #DIY, Motor City Machine Guns, Street Profits and Fraxiom.
While the tag team of Andrade and Rey Fenix has been enjoyable – it actually would make complete sense to see a major blow out between the two that could have a ripple effect in the future.
Should Andrade turn heel on Rey Fenix by attacking him after their potential loss – or walking out on him in the middle of the match – it could lead to a future feud with Fenix.
Perhaps more interestingly though, if it were to signal the transfer of Andrade from SmackDown to WWE Raw – he could immediately have an emotionally charged feud with Penta.

2. Cody Rhodes

While The Rock was clear that he wanted Cody Rhodes’ soul in the past – Rhodes wouldn’t budge as he remained squarely a babyface.
In doing media rounds in support of SummerSlam 2025, Cody has laughed off suggestion that a heel turn for him could be imminent but as ever added the typical – “never say never.”
Noting that if he were to turn heel he would abandon his signature entrance and theme song, he also joked that he would try to “get canceled” as a heel on the mic.
While it still seems premature for Cody Rhodes to turn heel – that doesn’t mean that his match against John Cena couldn’t still prove to be a catalyst for another star to reveal themselves as turning heel via interference…

1. Randy Orton

While it may be unlikely that Cody Rhodes turns heel at SummerSlam 2025 – one star that could find themselves finally fed up could be Randy Orton.
Set to tag with celebrity Jelly Roll against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre on Night One of the event – Orton could make headlines by attacking his partner after the bell or during the match itself.
Instantly getting a tremendous reaction if he were to suddenly to do just that in their match on Night One – it could actually be Night Two that holds the most impactful heel turn for Orton.
Able to insert himself into the continued feud between Cody Rhodes and John Cena further, Orton could end up not only turning heel but also having a major impact on the result of the Undisputed WWE Championship match.
