With AEW Double or Nothing 2025 coming up on May 25, there is seemingly an opportunity for more than one new star to debut.
From veterans who have been released by WWE to new signings that have already been teased, there is a pretty good chance of seeing a new face or two become All Elite.
Here are eight debuts that could take place at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
8. Nixon Newell
Formerly known as Tegan Nox in WWE, there is a case to be made for why Nixon Newell would be a great fit in AEW.
Someone who could easily join the cast and sort of take the place that was previously occupied by Kamille as an entourage member for Mercedes Mone, perhaps finally the rumored faction helmed by Mone would come together.
After what some considered stop-start pushes in her last run with WWE, there remains a lot of untapped potential wherever Newell chooses to wrestle next.
Providing veteran technical skills with a solid presence, Nixon Newell would be a great addition to the AEW women’s division.

7. Cedric Alexander
After Bobby Lashley finally gave a long awaited thumbs up and seemingly shocked MJF by allowing him into the Hurt Syndicate, there was a wrinkle in the plans.
Later in a backstage segment when MJF let MVP know he would be having his lawyer weigh-in on any potential contracts, the latter seemed unimpressed.
It seems as though there could be a Double or Nothing surprise coming for MJF in the form of the actual missing member of the Hurt Syndicate, Cedric Alexander.
Reuniting the former WWE Hurt Business faction in AEW, Alexander could easily join the group and enter into a feud with MJF.

6. Gabe Kidd
One potential debut at AEW Double or Nothing 2025 has already been teased is Gabe Kidd.
After the NJPW star made an appearance on a recent episode of AEW Dynamite, that certainly doesn’t mean we have seen the last of him.
It appears Kidd will be part of the Death Riders/Elite team in this year’s Double or Nothing Anarchy in the Arena match.
Perhaps able to add another to Team AEW, there could always be the surprise returns of HOOK and/or Eddie Kingston to make the teams evenly matched.

5. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
Among those released from WWE back in February 2025 were Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows.
After previously being released from WWE in 2020, Anderson & Gallows went on to make appearances in NJPW, TNA Wrestling and AEW before eventually being re-signed by WWE.
However, now that they are free agents, it could be that the pair re-join their former Elite squad in AEW.
Recently teaming up with the Young Bucks in NJPW, perhaps these two are poised to be a surprise during Anarchy in the Arena.

4. Giovanni Vinci
With a strong in-ring presence and a character that was becoming popular with fans, the release of Giovanni Vinci from WWE confused fans.
While the other two members of the Imperium stable – GUNTHER and Ludwig Kaiser – would remain affiliated, Vinci was culled from their group for a second time and never recovered.
With a new name and a slightly different character, Vinci could absolutely find success in AEW.
With AEW Double or Nothing heading to Phoenix, Arizona for the first time – as the event is typically held in Las Vegas – the two-time NXT Tag Team Champion may be a perfect, well-dressed addition to any MJF helmed squad.

3. Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin)
One star that was not “released” from WWE but rather was not re-signed was also a surprise to longtime fans – Baron Corbin.
However, without delay, he got straight into action in the indies – reinventing himself as ‘The Nomad’ Bishop Dyer.
Making appearances in several promotions, notably MLW and GCW, Dyer could certainly add AEW to his list of debuts in 2025.
Real-life friends with MJF, if the former AEW World Champion is in need of some assistance to recapture his former title, he could count on Dyer for some assistance.

2. Thekla
It hasn’t been confirmed by AEW just yet, but reports suggest that Austrian star Thekla is set to soon be announced as All Elite.
While there was an intriguing on-screen graphic alluding to her character – a small red spider dropped into frame and then went away – there has been no confirmation of when to expect her arrival.
For those unaware, billed as ‘The Toxic Spider’, Thekla has had a dominant career in wrestling in Japan where her villainous gimmick has run amok.
With Timeless Toni Storm set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against new AEW signee Mina Shirakawa, perhaps the former STARDOM foes are set to tangle again. Or the ‘Idol Killer’ Thekla will have her sights set on Storm upon her arrival in the women’s division.

1. Isla Dawn
While a handful of WWE stars that were released in February 2025 are now eligible to appear elsewhere, Isla Dawn may be the one who could most easily slide into a new role.
With the recent return of Skye Blue and Julia Hart remaining ever present on the AEW roster, there would be a very obvious combination of dominant women to run roughshod over the division.
Or entirely separately, Dawn could easily return to being a singles star as she had been during her time in NXT UK.
With the continued expansion of the AEW women’s division with new signings, perhaps there are more new stories yet to be revealed.
