8 Changes To WWE Raw On Netflix

Tonight’s WWE Raw on Netflix premiere will be a crucial show for the company and provide a glimpse into their future on the streaming platform for the next five or more years.

Being on a streaming service will bring the WWE product to new viewers and provide them with the opportunity to shake things up a bit.

Here are eight potential WWE Raw on Netflix changes:

8. “Mami Back On Top” – Rhea Ripley Regains The WWE Women’s World Championship

WWE's Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley - Saturday Night's Main Event

One of the more high profile bouts announced for the Raw on Netflix premiere will see Liv Morgan defend the WWE Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley.

Many fans believe this contest will serve as the blowoff for the two women’s near-year long rivalry and determine who will be the standard bearer for the Raw women’s division on Netflix.

Morgan has done a solid job at leading the division as champion and found new strides in her character work following her heel turn and aligning with Dominik Mysterio.

However, now is the time for WWE to put the division Rhea’s back once again, allowing for one of their biggest stars to be showcased as a champion heading into WrestleMania season.

7. Becky Lynch Returns

Rhea Ripley returning to the top of WWE Raw is a necessary step in giving the women’s division the strongest possible start in 2025.

Another step has already been all but confirmed, which is the return of Becky Lynch to WWE programming.

Since her lengthy absence began in May 2024, many fans have been wondering if Lynch would even make a comeback or if she had accomplished everything there is to in WWE.

The Man making a surprise appearance on Raw should open the door for some intriguing rivalries with the likes of Ripley, Liv Morgan, IYO SKY and potentially even Lyra Valkyria.

6. Move Back To Three Hours

The changes to Monday Night Raw will not only be seen in the way of roster and title switches.

In October, Raw changed to two hours for the first time since 2012 for the remainder of their time on the USA Network in 2024.

While this is something many fans have wanted for years, those same fans were not too pleased with the result considering the Raw roster was built for the three hour format, meaning several stars struggled for TV time.

It is not going to be a surprise to see WWE make the move back to three hours with the January 6 Netflix premiere, especially considering it will be all hands on deck with stars from SmackDown as well.

5. Edgier & More Realistic Storylines

WWE’s on-screen product is not expected to undergo wholesale changes despite not having the constraints of cable television to deal with.

However, this upcoming move to Netflix should signal WWE taking a direction to more grounded, realistic storytelling.

The excellent work in the Bloodline storyline shows the company that the fans will resonate with nuanced and detailed storytelling across the board.

Providing more edgier storylines or even promos will give the talent more freedom to find ways to communicate and connect with the fans more than they have before.

4. The Judgment Day Split Up

WWE's Judgment Day

Since forming in 2022, The Judgment Day have been a featured act on Monday Night Raw.

Through several different iterations, the group has remained united despite various ongoing issues and problems.

Lately, fans have seen Finn Balor expressing jealousy towards Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, while the couple have been more condescending towards their stablemate as well.

2025 should see The Judgment Day split up, whether it’s breaking the faction up altogether or making two different groups. With the fall out something that can become a focus on WWE Raw on Netflix in the early stages of the year.

One of the major returns that has been promoted and advertised for the upcoming January 6 Netflix premiere is John Cena.

After announcing his retirement tour at Money In The Bank, Cena also revealed that this run will begin with the WWE Raw on Netflix premiere from Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

This episode should give fans a glimpse into what Cena’s retirement tour will have in store for fans to enjoy over the next 12 months.

Whether it be a new star interrupting or a legendary rival coming to rekindle their issues, Cena will be one to watch for the entirety of 2025 and how his retirement tour unfolds.

Despite losing the Undisputed WWE Universal Title to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania XL, one thing has remained the same: Roman Reigns is still the top star in all of WWE.

Reigns’ presence has seemed overpowering at times and whatever show he’s on becomes the flagship for the company.

This is why The OTC making the move to Monday Night Raw is essential with the upcoming Netflix premiere. WWE will undoubtedly want to make Raw the main program and Reigns can help with that perception.

Reigns and the entire Bloodline storyline moving to Raw would put even more focus and attention on this landmark deal, while giving their top program the spotlight on Netflix in the process.

1. CM Punk Defeats GUNTHER To Win WWE World Heavyweight Championship

GUNTHER has proven himself to be one of the prolific champions in WWE history with his World Heavyweight Championship reign showing his prowess.

However, the past few months have felt like WWE has been shying away from the characteristics that have defined and made The Ring General who he is. At the same time, GUNTHER also hasn’t been featured quite as prominently as well on TV, and currently has no ongoing feud heading into Raw on Netflix.

Meanwhile, CM Punk has been thrusted right back into the spotlight courtesy of his ongoing rivalry with Seth Rollins, as well as his interactions with Roman Reigns and the lingering ‘favor’ from Paul Heyman.

With that in mind, Punk scoring a win over Rollins on the Raw on Netflix premiere should eventually lead to The Second City Saint stepping up to be the man to dethrone GUNTHER to become the World Heavyweight Champion, perhaps even as soon as the Royal Rumble PLE on February 1.
