Since AEW WrestleDream 2025 is happening soon, there are some stars that ended up not making the cut for the card.
From fan favorites who have recently returned to another that has had his recent storyline seemingly scrapped entirely, there are several names that were expected for the event but ended up left out.
Here are seven AEW stars that have been removed from WrestleDream 2025.
7. Orange Cassidy
While Orange Cassidy recently made his return to AEW TV, he isn’t set for a match on the WrestleDream 2025 card at time of writing.
Picking up a big opportunity at the sixth Anniversary of AEW Dynamite, Cassidy took on Kyle Fletcher in a losing bout for the TNT Championship.
Continuing in action since, it could be that there is a different creative plan incoming for the next major move for Orange Cassidy.
Potentially looking to challenge for the AEW World Championship, it could be that Cassidy is set for big things in the coming months.

6. Swerve Strickland
One AEW star that will be missing out on WrestleDream for the first time in the history of the event is Swerve Strickland.
With 2023 marking an intense battle against Hangman Adam Page and 2024 seeing Strickland make a surprise return for the first time since All Out to chat business with the Hurt Syndicate, this year he is not due to appear.
Currently out of action due to injury, Strickland has no specific timeline for return at this time.
Similar can be said for multiple other top stars in AEW like Will Opsreay and Jay White who remain out of action due to injury without any future plans being revealed.

5. MJF
An AEW star that is set to miss WrestleDream 2025 is former AEW World Champion, MJF.
After losing a Tables and Tacks match against Mark Briscoe at AEW All Out 2025, MJF hasn’t been in action in AEW.
Still on the hunt for another shot at Hangman Adam Page and reclaiming the AEW World Championship, it could be that MJF is lying in wait for an opportunity to strike.
Potentially set to make a return in the near future, MJF could definitely still factor into a match at WrestleDream 2025 despite not being in action.

4. Mercedes Mone
Call her Ultimo Mone, the CEO or Ten-Belts Mone – Mercedes Mone has no shortage of monikers to celebrate all of her recent successes.
After successfully capturing her 10th professional wrestling title, she now also holds the record for being the longest reigning TBS Champion in AEW history.
While Mone is not currently announced for a match at WrestleDream 2025, she did reveal on AEW Dynamite that she will make an appearance at the event.
With a match against Persephone the night before WrestleDream in Mexico for CMLL, and one the night after WrestleDream in Canada for Winnipeg Pro Wrestling’s Rumble in the Burt, the CEO has a packed travel schedule this weekend!

3. Christian Cage
After main eventing the inaugural edition of the show in 2023 – ahead of the debut of Adam Copeland in AEW – Christian Cage is set to miss this year’s AEW WrestleDream entirely.
Without seeing in-ring action since AEW All Out 2025 where he and Copeland teamed together to beat FTR, Cage is poised to sit out WrestleDream this year.
With Nick Wayne out of action due to injury and Killswitch returning and rebranding back to his former Luchasaurus persona, there aren’t any specific scores for Cage to settle in the absence of Copeland.
For their part, FTR will be in action at WrestleDream 2025 on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show in a match against Jetspeed.

2. Skye Blue & Julia Hart
On the September 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, AEW CEO and President Tony Khan made an on-screen appearance with an announcement.
Confirming the introduction of the new AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship , Khan noted that the inaugural champions would be crowned “soon.”
With something of a tease about the potential future of the division, there will be a women’s tag team bout on the Tailgate Brawl pre-show, featuring Harley Cameron teaming with Willow Nightingale to take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford.
Other tag teams like Skye Blue & Julia Hart, The Vendetta and Tay Melo & Anna Jay failed to make the cut for the event but will likely get a crack at becoming the inaugural AEW Women’s Tag Team Champions.

1. Powerhouse Hobbs
One current AEW champion who isn’t set for action on the WrestleDream 2025 card is Powerhouse Hobbs.
After The Opps successfully defended their AEW World Trios Title against La Faccion Ingobernable on the October 15 edition of AEW Dynamite, Samoa Joe has turned his attention elsewhere.
Joe is set to square off against Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World Championship at WrestleDream 2025.
With Eddie Kingston & HOOK set to host an open challenge during the Tailgate Brawl pre-show, perhaps it will be Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyouri Shibata who answer the call and make an appearance in the end.
