7 WWE Stars To Debut At AEW Dynasty 2025

With AEW Dynasty 2025 just around the corner, there are a number of former WWE stars that could make their All Elite debuts at the event.

Typically known for interesting surprises on pay-per-view, Tony Khan could have another former WWE star waiting in the wings to join AEW at Dynasty this Sunday, April 6.

Here are seven former WWE stars who could debut at AEW Dynasty 2025.

7. Cedric Alexander

Former WWE star and former Hurt Business (Hurt Syndicate in AEW) member Cedric Alexander

Now that he is a free agent, fans remain hopeful that Cedric Alexander may reunite with the rest of his former faction currently in AEW.

With MVP, Shelton Benjamin and Bobby Lashley already having joined forces in AEW to make up the Hurt Syndicate, it would seem possible perhaps Alexander could be next to join, to fully reform WWE’s Hurt Business.

The veteran not only has a lot of experience with his fellow stablemates, he has a long and respected tenure in professional wrestling as a whole.

With stories left to be told with and within the group, hopefully Cedric Alexander becomes affiliated with the Hurt Syndicate soon.

6. Sidney Akeem

Former WWE star Reggie (Scrypts / Sidney Akeem)

While he may not be the most high profile free agent, Sidney Akeem – formerly known as Reggie and SCRYPTS in WWE – could absolutely fit in AEW.

Recently defeating Danhausen at WSW Legacy in Australia, Akeem is actually on a six-match win streak in independent promotions at this time.

Able to use his experience as an acrobat for Cirque du Soleil in his wrestling style, Akeem may not be the most technical wrestler but he is very entertaining.

Whether he was mostly a mouthpiece, manager or actual in-ring star, Sidney Akeem still has a lot to offer AEW or ROH.

5. Trevor Lee

Former WWE star Cameron Grimes

The former Cameron Grimes was able to bring a lot emotional complexity to his over the top NXT characters which suggested he had a lot to contribute on the main roster.

However, sadly, after being called up, he was rarely seen on WWE TV before eventually being released from the company.

Trevor Lee hasn’t given up on his dream of being a top star in professional wrestling after departing WWE though, going on to continue to compete in various promotions.

If he were to make a debut in AEW, undoubtedly Lee would be able to make an impact from an entertaining character standpoint in addition to being able to fit in ‘where the best wrestle’.

4. Indi Hartwell

Indi Hartwell has not been bumming around since being released from WWE, as she has already debuted a brand new theme song by Downstait and had a major match.

Competing against AEW star Mercedes Mone in March for House of Glory, perhaps Mone could be recruiting Hartwell to her own AEW faction soon.

Mone has been flying solo (albeit now with Harley Cameron joining in) since Kamille quit being her enforcer in November – leaving a vacancy that Hartwell would be able to easily fill.

Hartwell’s clear passion for professional wrestling makes her a valuable asset to any locker room but one that AEW could actually use on TV ASAP.

3. KUSHIDA

Given that his “Intergalactic Jet Setters” tag team partner Kevin Knight has just been confirmed as signing with AEW, perhaps KUSHIDA will follow suit.

Former WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA is not only an experienced veteran – he also remains a compelling performer who is able to put on great matches.

While he could sign with AEW full time, KUSHIDA may be someone who appears periodically in both promotions, similarly to Tomohiro Ishii.

In fact, KUSHIDA does already have one AEW match under his belt, which was a TNT Title match against Darby Allin in January 2023.

2. TJ Perkins

While he certainly had a career in professional wrestling before and after WWE, TJP does still count as a ‘former WWE star’.

After it was recently reported that he had turned down a new contract with NJPW, he has become a free agent.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion went on to capture the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship three times since his return to NJPW in 2019.

Given the common pipeline from NJPW to AEW, seeing him make a big debut in AEW would make sense.

1. Von Wagner

There is a professional wrestling free agent that is already beloved by a subsect of fans that Tony Khan cannot deny – the former Von Wagner.

While eagle-eyed WWE fans already spotted him as an extra on a recent episode of Dynamite, the former NXT star is still in fact wrestling.

Now going by his real name Cal Bloom, he would go on to make his ROH in-ring debut in a losing effort teaming with Deonn Rusman against the Gates of Agony.

Having already achieved viral meme status with professional wrestling fans on the internet, Cal Bloom could now also prove his in-ring wrestling abilities in AEW.
