In February, All Elite Wrestling finally granted the release of Rey Fenix after a long dispute over injury time added to his contract with the promotion.

After nearly six years with AEW, reports circulated that Fenix was expected to join his brother Penta over in WWE.

Over the last few weeks, SmackDown has featured vignettes teasing the arrival of a new luchador to the brand, On the March 28 episode, it was then officially revealed that this luchador was in fact Rey Fenix.

With his debut set for the April 4 episode, the former AEW International Champion should get a similar push and presentation to what Penta received over on Monday Night Raw to form a connection with the WWE fanbase.

Debuting in WWE back in May 2024, Ethan Page wasted no time in making a name for himself over on the NXT brand.

“All Ego” positioned himself in the main event scene for the brand and captured the NXT Championship less than two months after signing with the promotion.

Following this successful reign and getting an endorsement from The Rock in January, it should only be a matter of time before Page is brought up to the main roster.

Page has everything it takes in the ring, on the mic and as a character to excel over on SmackDown and immediately garner a consistent spot on the brand.

On the March 18 edition of WWE NXT, Chelsea Green defeated Sol Ruca to retain the WWE Women’s United States Championship.

This could be seen as a tryout match for Ruca who has been a member of the NXT brand since 2022.

The 25 year old star has grown leaps and bounds over the past three years and overcame injury to get to this point of her career.

At WWE NXT Roadblock, Stephanie Vaquer defeated Giulia to retain the NXT Women’s North American Championship and win the NXT Women’s Championship.

While Vaquer became a double champion, the former STARDOM talent has been out of action since this loss.

With rumours and reports of an apparent injury, this could indicate that Giulia will be on the shelf for the foreseeable future or could be getting ready for something bigger.

When she is cleared and healthy, it would not surprise many fans to see Giulia get a call-up to the main roster and potentially join the SmackDown brand.

3. Stephanie Vaquer

On the other end of the spectrum, Stephanie Vaquer has quickly established herself as the best female star currently on the NXT roster.

Capturing the two top women’s titles on the brand in quick order, “La Primera” has shined under the bright lights of WWE since being signed last year.

This could indicate that WWE sees a lot in the Chilean star and might not wait too long before moving her up to the main roster.

Vaquer joining the SmackDown brand could result in her getting a top spot on the main roster and competing against the likes of Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill or Tiffany Stratton sooner rather than later.

2. Oba Femi

There has been no more dominant star on the NXT brand than Oba Femi over the past year.

After becoming the longest reigning NXT North American Champion with a 269-day reign, Femi lost the gold and then went on to win the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at Deadline last December.

From there, “The Ruler” cemented his rightful place atop the brand by defeating Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe to win the NXT Championship at New Year’s Evil in January.

While he still holds the top prize on NXT, fans should expect Oba to get called up as soon as he drops the title. Going to the SmackDown brand, Femi would immediately be among the top stars and would not look out of place in the main event picture.

1. Aleister Black

The final entry on this list is more of a re-debut than an actual debut on the SmackDown brand, but it is one that seems very clear will happen soon.

The past several weeks of SmackDown has seen mysterious vignettes being shown with white smoke forming the numbers 4, 2 and 5. This may indicate the date of April 25, which is the Friday Night SmackDown after WrestleMania 41.

The belief is this is for former AEW star Malakai Black, returning to his persona as Aleister Black in WWE.

After four years with All Elite Wrestling, Black will return to WWE under the Triple H regime and should be positioned as a top star by doing battle with the likes of Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre over on SmackDown.
