With shocking returns at SummerSlam still reverberating, there could be more in store at WWE Clash in Paris 2025.

With WWE headed to Paris for the next premium live event set for Sunday, August 31, 2025, there could be some surprise returns set for the event.

Here are seven possible returns for WWE Clash in Paris 2025.

7. GUNTHER

WWE star GUNTHER

After losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam 2025 – it could be a good time for GUNTHER to take some time away from TV.

With GUNTHER being reported on WWE Raw to have sustained a “septal hematoma and orbital blowout fracture” as a result of the “injury” from the announce table spot and would be out of action “indefinitely”.

Although Clash in Paris is fast approaching on August 31, 2025 – it could make for an even more shocking return for the Ring General.

Rumored to be considered front runner as the last opponent for John Cena – GUNTHER could simply be on hand to take in the action between presumably Cena and Brock Lesnar.

6. Bianca Belair

WWE star Bianca Belair

After sustaining several broken fingers at WrestleMania 41, Bianca Belair has yet to return to in-ring competition although has continued her storyline with former tag team partner Naomi.

While Naomi was able to retain the WWE Women’s World Championship at SummerSlam, she already has her next opponent lined up in Stephanie Vaquer.

With fans still wondering if Belair’s return will usher in a heel turn, potentially kicking off by aligning with Naomi – it may make even more sense for her to come back to confront Naomi after the match.

With both Naomi and Bianca doing some of the most compelling emotional storytelling as of late in WWE, hopefully their story isn’t over yet.

5. Ilja Draugnov

Ilja Dragunov has been out of action since September 2024 when he sustained a torn ACL during a house show match against GUNTHER.

There have however been recent reports that the Mad Dragon is approaching a return in the near future.

Bringing his impressive and intense ring style, Dragunov would be a threatening challenger to any of the current champions on the main roster.

While there hasn’t been any official timeline for return revealed, it would make total sense to see him make a return at Clash in the Castle.

4. Rey Mysterio

After suffering a groin injury on the SmackDown before WrestleMania 41, Rey Mysterio has yet to return to action.

There are however reports noting he may be returning this month – maybe his big return comes at Clash in Paris.

Potentially resuming his feud with El Grande Americano (albeit now the masked luchador is portrayed by Ludwig Kaiser) – there are several ways that Rey could return in Paris including to spoil the Parisian dreams of his son Dominik.

After Dirty Dom retained the WWE Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam 2025 – perhaps his next challenger could be a returning Rey Mysterio.

3. Otis

Alpha Academy just hasn’t been the same without Otis. With Maxxine Dupri going on to join Natalya to form the Dungeon Dolls tag team, Akira Tozawa has been lost without his partner.

After having been defeated by Rusev in early May, Otis would reveal that he was taking time off from in-ring action.

He would later reveal on social media that he had undergone arthroscopic elbow surgery.

While there is still no timeline for his return, the injury was not expected to lead to a long-term absence. Potentially able to be back to action sooner rather than later, Otis remains a crowd favorite and could definitely be out to seek revenge on Rusev.

2. Austin Theory

After the A-Town Down Under tag team of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller was quietly disbanded, Theory has remained off of WWE TV.

With Waller noting on-screen that Theory was injured, it has yet to be confirmed if the injury is legitimate or if there is any expected time table for his return.

However, perhaps he is really being reserved for a big return at Clash in Paris .

With a few storylines that could fit in a re-branded Theory – maybe fans will finally get to see a big push for the star formerly touted as ‘the next John Cena’.

1. Tama Tonga

Tama Tonga who was written off of TV before WrestleMania 41 to afford time off due to a legitimate injury and remains absent.

However with Jacob Fatu losing his bid at regaining the WWE United States Championship from Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam 2025 – their feud seems far from over.

While Solo Sikoa has the numbers advantage for now with Tala Tonga, Tonga Loa & JC Mateo, perhaps Jacob Fatu is assembling his own new squad to be revealed in Paris.

Although Tama Tonga’s allegiance in the current state of affairs has yet to be confirmed, it would make sense for him to return and link up with Fatu.
