With several WWE stars still out of action with injury, there could be top names on the verge of making a return soon.
From several who have been out of action for nearly six months to others who have appeared on TV but haven’t competed in the ring, there could be some exciting returns coming in the near future.
Here are seven injured WWE stars that could be making a return soon.
7. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn has been out of in-ring action since October 17 when he dropped the United States Championship to the returning Ilja Dragunov in his open challenge.
Although he has continued to factor into storylines with the MFTs rivalry with the Wyatt Sicks, he hasn’t officially linked up with the frightening faction.
While Sami Zayn has appeared on SmackDown, most recently on November 7 he was told by Nick Aldis that he was not yet medically cleared.
Seemingly likely to be cleared in the near future and also potentially set to join forces with the Wyatt Sicks to take on the MFTs, it could be that Sami Zayn is back in action sooner rather than later.

6. GUNTHER

GUNTHER has been out of in-ring action since dropping the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to CM Punk at SummerSlam 2025.
Being described on TV as “out of action indefinitely”, a return in the coming weeks has been teased with the announcement of the Last Time Is Now tournament.
Set to determine who will be the final opponent for John Cena at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, GUNTHER has previously been reported as the expected winner of the tournament.
Featured in the teaser vignette for the randomly selected brackets, there was a “mystery” person pulled in the first two sets of matches by Nick Aldis. Set to take on LA Knight, perhaps the mystery will be revealed to be a returning GUNTHER.

5. Liv Morgan

A WWE fan favorite that has been described as returning to WWE in “early 2026” but possibly sooner, Liv Morgan may be on the verge of a return.
Liv Morgan picked up an injury back in June that saw her taken out of action and into surgery and rehab on her shoulder.
With Roxanne Perez seemingly going on to take her place in the Judgment Day and the return of a heelish Becky Lynch to feud with, Liv Morgan certainly has plenty of options of who to target when she does come back.
Seemingly poised to return in the near future, Morgan has been keeping her return plans a secret but will certainly receive a thunderous reaction when she re-emerges.

4. Chad Gable

Another potential return on the horizon could be that of American Made faction leader and original El Grande Americano, Chad Gable.
Out of action since June 2025, Gable has been rehabbing to return to in-ring action after shoulder surgery.
With the El Grande Americano gimmick having gone on to change hands and taken to new heights by Ludwig Kaiser, it could be that a showdown is imminent.
With Americano recruiting two more Americanos in Bravo & Rayo (Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne beneath the lucha masks respectively), it would seem a showdown between the two groups could be coming in the near future.

3. Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair has been out of action since breaking several fingers during her WrestleMania 41 bout against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley.
While she has appeared in the time since — including being a special guest referee for a major match between Naomi and Jade Cargill — she hasn’t returned to in-ring competition.
With Cargill recently beating Tiffany Stratton to capture her first WWE Women’s Championship, some fans have speculated that perhaps the return of Bianca Belair is near.
There remains no concrete details regarding a return timeline for Belair but certainly when she does come back, WWE fans will be thrilled.

2. Jacob Fatu

After being shown in a pool of blood after an off-screen backstage attack, Jacob Fatu is out of action on SmackDown.
It has been reported that the reason for his current absence is undergoing dental surgery but there isn’t a concrete return timeline for the Samoan Werewolf.
While Fatu was reportedly originally set to be on the babyface team for the upcoming men’s Survivor Series WarGames match, it now seems questionable.
With plans for the match being changed due to Seth Rollins’ injury, it could be that the original field of reported entrants ends up shifting by the time fans get to San Diego for the event.

1. Austin Theory

While he hasn’t been seen in WWE action since July, Austin Theory was recently reported to be returning in the near future in a big way.
Rumored to be joining the Survivor Series WarGames heel team along with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Brock Lesnar and now seemingly Logan Paul subbed in for Seth Rollins — Theory has yet to return to TV.
Potentially being withheld as a surprise for close to the Survivor Series event date, there hasn’t been any further reporting regarding the nature of his injury that saw him off of TV in the first place.
