Recent reports have indicated that WWE is interested in rebuilding their tag team division after some departures from the company.
With the likes of The New Day, The Wyatt Sicks and Motor City Machine Guns exiting the promotion, it feels like the right time for WWE to bring in some new and returning tag teams into the company.
Looking at the current free agency market, there are a number of former WWE tag teams that may possibly make their way coming soon.
Here are seven former WWE tag teams to potentially return.
7. Enzo Amore & Big Cass (Real1 & Big Bill)
Ahead of a recent WWE NXT TV tapings, it was reported that Enzo Amore was seen backstage at the Performance Center.
Amore is someone who has made a name for himself outside of WWE since his release from the company in 2018.
Meanwhile, Enzo’s former tag team partner Big Cass, now known as Big Bill, has made his presence felt in All Elite Wrestling. However, recent reports have indicated that Bill’s AEW contract is set to expire soon.
With Big Bill set to leave the company, this could lead to the former AEW World Tag Team Champion becoming Big Cass yet again alongside Enzo back in a WWE ring before long.
6. The Blondes of Bollywood (Samir & Sunil Singh)
Another notable pairing in WWE from the 2010s was the duo of the Singh Brothers, now known as The Blondes of Bollywood.
The former Bollywood Boyz made their way to WWE and aligned themselves with Jinder Mahal, becoming a major part of his act after he won the WWE Championship in 2017.
Since leaving WWE, Samir and Sunil Singh have become one of the most consistent and reliable duos on the independent scene.
Now with a few years more experience under their belts, it might be the right time for The Blondes of Bollywood to make their return to a WWE ring in the coming months.
5. Shotzi Blackheart & Priscilla Kelly
Since their WWE departures in May 2025, Shotzi Blackheart and Priscilla Kelly have been two of the most prominent female stars on the independent scene today.
Regularly booked for multiple independent promotions and even bigger companies like MLW, Kelly and Blackheart have shown what made them dependable performers during their time in WWE.
While they were in WWE NXT together, Shotzi and PK became known as Chemical X in a trio with current NXT Women’s North American Champion Tatum Paxley.
Shotzi and PK returning to WWE as a unit could see them become a threat to become future Women’s Tag Team Champions and put a spotlight on them in a way they weren’t able to achieve in their last runs with the promotion.
4. The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)
Another pair of former WWE stars who have been making a name for themselves since leaving the company are The Good Brothers.
The combination of Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are one of the most decorated duos in all of pro wrestling today.
Having won championship gold in WWE, New Japan Pro Wrestling and TNA Wrestling, Gallows and Anderson have been on a roll since arriving in companies like Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan and MLW in the United States.
The Good Brothers making their comeback in WWE would be interesting to see where they could fit in the current landscape of the promotion.
3. The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy)
The Hardys have been among the biggest stars and draws in TNA Wrestling since returning to the company in 2024.
In 2025, Matt and Jeff Hardy made their return to WWE and went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championships as part of the brand’s working relationship with TNA Wrestling.
Team X-Treme are still going strong more than 30 years into their careers and deserve one final run in WWE before they decide to hang up their boots for good.
Having the chance to mix it up with the current talent in the WWE tag team scene, The Hardys could be a wonderful addition to the company and set up some exciting matchups against top pairings, such as The Usos, The Vision and Street Profits.
2. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane)
On April 24, the wrestling world was shocked to learn that Kairi Sane had been released from WWE.
Prior to her release, Sane was embroiled in a long term storyline with her senpai and Kabuki Warriors tag team partner Asuka. This story was left unfinished, which led to IYO SKY defeating Asuka at WWE Backlash 2026.
Following this loss, “The Empress of Tomorrow” decided to take some time off and return to Japan to take care of personal obligations.
However, WWE could choose to re-sign Kairi and add one of the most prominent women’s tag teams back into the company by having Sane return alongside Asuka when the time is right.
1. FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler)
At AEW Double Or Nothing 2026, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage defeated FTR in an I Quit Match to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
Following this loss, reports started to circulate that Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler’s AEW contracts were set to expire in the next year with WWE holding “preliminary interest” in bringing them back to the company.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in wrestling today, FTR would be a huge acquisition for WWE and immediately bolster their tag ranks.
With potential matches against The Usos, Street Profits and Fraxiom for them to have upon their return, WWE would be hard-pressed to find another duo on par or better than FTR anywhere in the world right now.
