There are plenty of active titles in WWE, but with the acquisition of AAA and a partnership with TNA Wrestling, there is potentially room for more.
From titles that fans will remember to others that were quietly retired after a short time, there are a lot of options of previous title belts that could be brought back in modern day.
Here are six vintage WWE championships that have been retired but could definitely be brought back.
6. 24/7 Championship

One championship from WWE’s past that some fans believe should be be brought back is the 24/7 Championship.
The title has made a return of sorts in the last year but not on WWE TV – a version of the belt was featured in an Old Spice deodorant ad starring The Miz highlighting its ’24/7 freshness’.
The unexpected frivolity of this title would be a perfect fit on NXT and a wonderful way for even just one roster member to be constantly under threat but barely squeak by through a variety of wacky circumstances.
A highly serious star like Charlie Dempsey could be humanized as a character through carrying it and going through its comedic trials and tribulations.

5. Canadian Championship

Fans may remembers that there was briefly a WWF Canadian Championship that spanned from 1985 to early 1986.
Dino Bravo was the only ever Canadian Champion with the belt being abandoned entirely after five months.
With so many stars in current WWE being proud Canadians including Sami Zayn, Natalya, Kevin Owens, Chelsea Green, Trish Stratus and ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page – this one might be a great one to bring back.
Particularly in light of having the United States Championship on SmackDown, adding a Canadian Championship as a dueling title – even a temporary move just for a storyline – may be really fun.

4. Hardcore Championship

After Travis Scott made a major impact at WrestleMania 41 – helping John Cena beat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship – he proudly held a title of his own.
Appearing with a new version of the Hardcore Championship – it would be fun to see that title make a return.
Perhaps re-purposed as code for “Celebrity Championship”, the actual “hardcore” concept wouldn’t need to even be particularly applicable.
With potential competitors like Travis Scott, Bad Bunny and Cardi B all planned or rumored for future appearances in WWE, it would be a great way to continue to have viral moments without actually impacting an active title.

3. Cruiserweight Championship

The WWE Cruiserweight championship was retired in 2007 without any formal explanation – but the concept would come back around again nearly a decade later.
The WWE Cruisweight Championship recreated for the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic would go on to be renamed the NXT Cruiserweight Championship and would continue for five more years (2016-2022), before the title was retired after being unified with the NXT North American Championship by Carmelo Hayes.
However, there is a case to be made for clarifying a weight limit for such a division and having a top title.
Similarly to the WWE Speed championship, these matches could be hosted exclusively on a social media platform as a casual introduction to the more high flying aspects of WWE in-ring action.

2. Divas Championship

The original iteration of the Divas Championship could be resurrected as a reclamation of the concepts that many of the women on the current WWE experienced when they were fans.
From new roster members debuting or returning favorites from the Divas era who still want to prove their abilities, the title wouldn’t necessarily need to be a permanent fixture, but could be vied for in something like a yearly tournament.
Someone wins and it is theirs until the next year when it just moves on to a new winner.
Such a tournament could potentially even take place at the rumored to be returning WWE Evolution premium live event.

1. Intercontinental Tag Team Championship

Another title with a short lineage, the WWF Intercontinental Tag Team Championship was only active during 1991.
Only held by the team of Perro Aguayo and Gran Hamada, the concept might make more sense now that WWE is partnering with TNA Wrestling and has acquired AAA.
With a floating set of tag team titles, there could be endless options for interesting match-ups and a way to incorporate all of the promotions under the same umbrella together.
This title could also be only won via annual tournament similarly to the Dusty Cup in that a team wins, but it doesn’t necessarily make a week to week impact.
