There are several current AEW stars that may want to explore their opportunities in WWE when contractually able.

From young stars looking to expand their reach in the business to legendary veterans who are certainly bound for future induction into the WWE Hall of Famer, there are quite a few AEW stars who could sign with WWE.

Here are six AEW stars that could sign with WWE in the near future.

6. Chris Jericho

After his character wrote himself off of AEW TV by declaring that he was departing not angry but rather just disappointed – Chris Jericho has yet to return to TV.

While at the time his initial absence was explained away by Fozzy tour dates, as his absence has continued the rumor mill has begun circulating that his absence could be a sign of something bigger.

With Jericho’s contract with AEW reportedly expiring at the end of 2025, perhaps his prolonged absence is actually due to being benched in advance of his departure.

Although Jericho has noted that he is open to a WWE return, nothing has been officially confirmed – making the evolving story an intriguing one.

After dropping the AEW World Tag Team Championship to the Hurt Syndicate back in January, they have disappeared from AEW TV.

While their contracts were anticipated to be up over the summer, there has yet to be any reveal regarding their future.

Both Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen remain listed on the AEW roster page but haven’t appeared in the company in 2025.

WWE reportedly has interest in the tag team given their dynamic characters and TV experience making it seem likely the duo could land in the rebuilding NXT tag division sooner rather than later.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker made a major mark on the first few years of AEW as one of the original roster members.

Her last appearance on TV came in November 2024 where she competed in a match against Penelope Ford. After the match Serena Deeb walked out with Baker being caught mouthing what appeared to be “no one cares” on camera.

While the most recent comments from Tony Khan on the matter noted that Baker was still under contract with AEW, he added that there were numerous great stars in AEW that weren’t being used at the minute.

Meanwhile the AEW women’s division has marched on with the addition of numerous members making it seem potentially more likely that in lieu of an AEW return – Britt Baker fans may need to wait until they can see her perform elsewhere.

Another AEW star that is said to have a very influential fan within WWE is Danhausen.

After Danhausen’s contract was reportedly set to expire this summer as well, it was reported that The Rock was specifically supportive of WWE engaging Danhausen.

However after it was separately reported that AEW had elected to continue Danhausen’s contract related to previous time out of action due to injury – he is not yet a free agent.

While the fan favorite merch mover will eventually be a free agent, for now he continues to make appearances in indie promotions across the world with dates in Australia, the UK, Canada and the United States in just the last six months.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa has found herself still appearing on TV in AEW and ROH but not quite recapturing her past momentum.

Potentially looking to jump ship to WWE when eligible, Thunder Rosa comes packed with a ready-made character and TV experience.

Previously being public about her praise for WWE as a part of the Busted Open Radio panel, Thunder Rosa was complimentary about other AEW to WWE debuts.

Noting being impressed by both Ricky Saints and Jade Cargill’s presentations in WWE after defecting from AEW – perhaps Thunder Rosa will be another star to follow suit.

1. Paul Wight

AEW's Paul Wight

While he may be known by his real name Paul Wight in AEW, certainly WWE fans know him best as The Big Show.

While his legendary work spans from WCW to WWE and beyond to AEW, Wight has not seen a lot of in-ring action as of late.

Perhaps looking to craft his own retirement story, WWE has demonstrated a new way to present retirement through the long farewell run of John Cena as well as the highly touted last match for Goldberg.

The Big Show also remains noticeably absent from the WWE Hall of Fame, a detail that could change if he were to return to the company.
